Customers are allowed to buy a maximum of 1 tael of gold ring, some stores even sell 1 tael per person, but within a short time, all the gold shops announced that they were out of gold. The staff continuously directed customers to other stores but they still could not buy.
According to VietNamNet reporters on the morning of November 2, gold shops in Cau Giay district ( Hanoi ) all announced that they would not accept any more customers and that they were "out of gold".
Employees of Bao Tin Minh Chau gold shop (Cau Giay) shared that instead of selling a limit of half a tael of gold ring per person, today each customer will be able to buy 1 tael.
“The gold shop opened at 9am, and after 30 minutes, the inside was full of customers. We received a notice that we would not be accepting any more customers, so many people had to turn around and go home,” said the employee.
Also in Cau Giay area, PV's survey showed that gold shops such as PNJ, Doji ,... were very deserted. Many shops announced that they had run out of plain round gold rings for a month now, most of them only sell jewelry gold.
At the "gold street" Tran Nhan Tong (Hai Ba Trung), people have been waiting in line since early morning. Many people even invited 2-3 relatives to go with them to line up at the gold shops, get tickets and wait to buy.
At Bao Tin Minh Chau gold shop (15 Tran Nhan Tong), Ms. Lan - the last person in line to buy gold - said: "I was lucky to be the last person in line to buy gold, but after waiting for 3 minutes, the staff said they ran out of gold and told me to go to the shop at 29 Tran Nhan Tong."
“However, after running over there, the staff also said that they had run out of gold. I had to go home empty-handed even though I had to wait for quite a while,” said Ms. Lan.
As an early buyer, Mr. Bang (Hai Ba Trung) said that most gold shops only open for about 30 minutes for 20-30 people, each person can buy 1 tael. Like this morning, inside the shop there were about 30 people waiting, the gold shop only sold about 3 taels of gold.
“Yesterday I waited from morning to afternoon and could only buy half a tael. My wife saw people rushing to buy and was eager to tell me to go buy to save up,” Mr. Bang shared.
Meanwhile, at Phu Quy gold shop on Tran Nhan Tong street, Mr. Son (Dong Da) said that at first he lined up at Bao Tin Minh Chau, but seeing that the sales volume was too low, he ran to Phu Quy. He wanted to buy 1 tael of gold to pay off his debt, but he was worried that if he continued to line up to buy each tael like this, he was afraid that if the price of gold went up even more, he would not have enough money to buy.
Seeing that Phu Quy was selling 1 tree per person, he ran over here to line up.
According to observation, inside Phu Quy gold shop, buyers lined up in 4 long lines. The entrance was almost blocked by the stream of gold buyers, the transaction counters were overloaded with customers.
The staff here said that normally the store sells about 3 taels of gold per person, but today the amount of gold sold increased, each person can buy 1 tael. Therefore, many people have been queuing for a long time waiting for their turn to enter the transaction.
However, in a flash, the store also put up a sign saying “gold is no longer for sale”. Many people who arrived a few minutes later expressed regret and had to return. Some people, although already lining up inside, were still worried because they were afraid that the staff would announce that they were out of gold.
Outside, gold shops continuously broadcast warnings about the presence of many “gold brokers” offering to buy and sell gold right outside. People need to be vigilant when trading gold, to avoid being deceived into receiving gold products of poor quality.
Despite its scarcity, many people on the “online market” post advertisements for selling or buying gold in large quantities. Sellers advertise “any amount is available”, buyers say “we will buy at any price”. However, buying and selling without documents is risky as no entity takes responsibility.
