"Shocking revelation" about the 13-year-old male student who designed the crown of Miss Universe Vietnam 2024

10 days after the final night of the Miss Universe Vietnam 2024 contest, Hoang Xuan Thuyen, a student at Dong Chieu Secondary School ( Binh Duong province), still clearly remembers the moment when the new Miss Nguyen Cao Ky Duyen wore the crown designed by Thuyen and the two took a photo together.

The 13-year-old designer took a photo with Miss Universe Vietnam 2024 Nguyen Cao Ky Duyen during the final night on September 14.

Participating in a major competition for the first time, Thuyen admitted that this was a "risky" but equally interesting move. The young student said that he had been planning to participate in the competition for 2 years. As soon as the Miss Universe Vietnam 2024 organizing committee launched the crown design contest for the new beauty queen, Thuyen asked his family's permission to participate.

"Although I have not attended any design school, I am not worried because I am participating in the contest to gain experience. There are many famous designers in the contest, this is an opportunity for me to meet everyone" - Thuyen modestly shared.

Talking about her passion for design, Thuyen said she "fell in love" with the profession when she entered middle school. Through school competitions such as Young Creativity, Career Experience, participating in Art Club activities, etc., Thuyen found her own interests and passions.

Surpassing many experienced designers, the 13-year-old student won the crown design contest for the new Miss Universe Vietnam 2024.

Thuyen learns to draw and searches for topics on Youtube. After school, Thuyen spends time practicing drawing, which is also when he feels most relaxed. The student comes up with ideas, then sketches them on paper, and finally completes the drawing on an iPad.

The young designer said the winning crown is called "Million Dollar Mission", worth 24 million VND. The crown was designed in about 10 days, with the main idea based on Vietnamese cultural heritage.

"I love my homeland, my country and the place where I live and study. Therefore, the crown is designed based on Vietnam's cultural and historical heritage, to honor the nation's fine traditions, connect the present with the past, affirm the values ​​of history and longevity" - Thuyen said.

The crown consists of a main stone symbolizing the new beauty queen, and 10 secondary stones symbolizing 10 schools that will be built during the new beauty queen's term.

After the contest, Thuyen received a lot of compliments and support from his family and school. In addition, the male student also unexpectedly became a "tiktok idol" with a rapidly increasing number of fans.

Thuyen regularly participates in school activities.

Mr. Bui Nam Hai, Thuyen's homeroom teacher, said that the contest was held during the summer break so it did not affect her studies at all. This was also an opportunity for Thuyen to gain confidence and learn more things.

"I have taught her since grade 6. She is very obedient and polite to teachers, and actively participates in school activities. In the new school year, Thuyen was elected as the class monitor. Being a cheerful and active person, Thuyen is loved by many friends" - commented teacher Hai.

Although she is passionate about design, Thuyen's dream job in the future is not related to art. Thuyen smiled and whispered: "I will try to study well so that I can become a politician or a TV editor/MC in the future."
