Bringing smiles back to more than 80 children with cleft lip and cleft palate

(Dan Sinh) - Ho Chi Minh City Orthopedic and Rehabilitation Hospital (Hospital 1A) has just coordinated with Project Vietnam Foundation (USA) to perform free surgery for more than 80 unfortunate children with cleft lip and cleft palate deformities across the country.

Hospital 1A has just invited a team of doctors from Project Vietnam Foundation (USA) to Vietnam to support patients with disabilities, helping them reduce their inferiority complex and quickly reintegrate into the community and continue to participate in social activities, contributing to reducing the burden on their families and society.

This time, doctors and nurses coordinated to examine and perform free surgery to help more than 80 children regain their smiles, bringing many feelings to the families whose children had surgery as well as the medical team performing the surgery.

Sharing with reporters, Ms. Th (from Ca Mau ) emotionally said that before coming to Hospital 1A, she had run around many times to send in registration documents for her child to have free surgery at several hospitals and was disappointed because the number of applications was too large so she was not accepted and continued to wait.

“When I read the news in the newspaper about Hospital 1A organizing a free cleft lip and palate surgery program for children, I registered and brought my child on time for surgery. The family is truly grateful to the team of doctors and nurses who wholeheartedly helped the child,” Ms. Th. said emotionally.

According to a representative of Hospital 1A, this free surgery cooperation program is a humanitarian activity aimed at returning smiles and confidence to disadvantaged and disabled children who do not have the conditions for surgery.

It is known that Hospital 1A is a hospital under the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs . Every year, the hospital regularly organizes free surgeries for children in difficult circumstances, who are unlucky enough to have disabilities.
