General Secretary and President To Lam begins State visit to Cuba

On the afternoon of September 25 local time, or the morning of September 26 Hanoi time, General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife, along with a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, left New York (USA) for a state visit to Cuba.

According to the special correspondent of the Vietnam News Agency, on the afternoon of September 25 local time, or the morning of September 26 Hanoi time, after completing activities to attend the Future Summit, the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly, working in the United States, General Secretary, President To Lam and his wife, along with a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, left New York for a state visit to Cuba at the invitation of the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, President of the Republic of Cuba Miguel Diaz Canel Bermudez and his wife.

The delegation included comrades: Nguyen Hoa Binh, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister; Phan Van Giang, Politburo member, Minister of National Defense; Nguyen Trong Nghia, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Party Central Committee's Propaganda and Education Commission; Luong Tam Quang, Politburo member, Minister of Public Security; Nguyen Duy Ngoc, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chief of the Party Central Committee's Office; Le Hoai Trung, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Party Central Committee's External Relations Commission; Bui Thanh Son, Party Central Committee member, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Nguyen Duc Hai, Party Central Committee member, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly; and a number of Party Central Committee members who are Ministers, Provincial Party Secretaries; Assistant to the General Secretary and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to the Republic of Cuba.

This State visit to Cuba by General Secretary and President To Lam marks an important moment of historical significance, a strong testament to the special brotherly friendship over the past 65 years between the two nations, half a world apart, which has always been considered a precious asset highly valued by the Parties, States and peoples of the two countries./
