On September 20, at the Party Central Committee headquarters, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong warmly received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Lao People's Democratic Republic to Vietnam Sengphet Houngboungnuang who came to pay his respects on the occasion of the end of his term of office.

At the meeting, Ambassador Sengphet Houngboungnuang sincerely thanked General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong for taking the time to meet him. The Ambassador appreciated the General Secretary's comments and thanked the Party, State and people of Vietnam for their great and effective support and assistance to Laos up to now, as well as the ministries, departments, branches and localities of Vietnam for always creating favorable conditions for the Ambassador to successfully complete his assigned tasks.

Ambassador Sengphet Houngboungnuang congratulated Vietnam on its achievements in recent years, especially in Party building and socio -economic development.

Expressing his joy at the increasingly deep and extensive Laos-Vietnam solidarity relationship, bringing practical benefits to the people of each country, Ambassador Sengphet Houngboungnuang emphasized the importance of the special Laos-Vietnam relationship and affirmed that no matter what position he holds, he will continue to do his best to foster the special Laos-Vietnam solidarity relationship to be forever green and sustainable.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong congratulated Ambassador Sengphet Houngboungnuang on successfully completing his term in Vietnam, emphasizing the significance and importance of the special solidarity relationship between Vietnam and Laos.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong highly appreciated the Ambassador's contributions in implementing foreign affairs activities of high-ranking leaders, promoting the effective implementation of agreements between the two Parties and two countries, contributing to fostering the special solidarity relationship between Vietnam and Laos to develop more deeply, effectively and practically in all fields and asked the Ambassador to continue to make active contributions in preserving precious traditions, fostering the relationship between the two Parties, two States and peoples to develop more deeply, practically and effectively.

Congratulating Laos on its important achievements in recent times, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong affirmed that Vietnam always supports Laos's reform process and believes that, under the leadership of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, the Lao people will continue to gain many new and greater achievements in implementing the Resolution of the 11th Party Congress.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong thanked Ambassador Sengphet Houngboungnuang for respectfully conveying the regards of General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith and also conveyed regards to the leaders and former senior leaders of the Lao Party and State.
