The trailer for the movie “Totto-chan: The Little Girl at the Window” has just been released by the film studio along with the release date on December 8th this year.

The film is directed by Shinnosuke Yakuwa and produced by Shin-Ei Films. The main character, Totto-chan, is voiced by child actress Ririna Oono. Shizue Kaneko designed the characters, Yuuji Nomi composed the music, and Yosuke Suzuki assisted in writing the script.
“Totto-Chan: The Little Girl at the Window” is based on the autobiographical memoir of the same name by author Kuroyanagi Tetsuko, telling the sweet childhood years of the mischievous girl Totto when she attended Tomoe school and became friends with principal Kobayashi Sosaku.

Released in 1981, the book caused a huge stir not only in Japan but also around the world , becoming a turning point in Kuroyanagi Tetsuko's career. "Totto-Chan at the Window" became a bedside book for many generations over the years, accompanying many people throughout their childhood.
After the success of “Totto-Chan at the Window”, author Kuroyanagi Tetsuko actively participated in charity work. She established the Totto Foundation, which specializes in training deaf actors and bringing theater to the deaf community. In 1984, she was appointed as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, becoming the first Asian woman to hold this position.

Kuroyanagi Tetsuko later published a sequel to her memoir titled “Totto's Children”, sharing her experiences as a UNICEF ambassador.
Totto-chan fans as well as anime (Japanese animation) enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting the release of the film, which promises to be a very touching and humane story.
