(NLDO) - The Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City will submit to the City People's Committee for consideration and decision on the enrollment plan for grade 6 in February 2025.
Information on surveying or stopping surveying in grade 6 of the 2025-2026 school year is currently of interest to many parents and students in Ho Chi Minh City.
On the morning of January 9, speaking with a reporter from the Lao Dong Newspaper , Mr. Ho Tan Minh, Chief of Office of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, said that the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training will submit to the City People's Committee a plan to enroll students in the first grade, including enrolling students in grade 6 in February 2025. Immediately after the City's approval decision, the City Department of Education and Training will widely announce it to parents and students.
Mr. Minh added that it is not yet possible to confirm whether Ho Chi Minh City will conduct a survey or stop the survey for grade 6, because in principle, it still has to wait for the City People's Committee to review and decide based on the regulations and instructions of the Ministry of Education and Training. The Department of Education and Training of the City is the unit that performs the role of consulting and proposing. "The Department will soon develop a plan to submit to the City so that parents and students can rest assured," Mr. Minh said.
A 6th grade entrance exam in Ho Chi Minh City
Yesterday (January 8), the Ministry of Education and Training announced the regulations on junior high school and high school admissions, including regulations on junior high school admissions. According to the new regulations, junior high school admissions are organized once a year; junior high school admissions are conducted by the selection method; the selection criteria are specifically guided by the Department of Education and Training, ensuring fair, objective, transparent selection, suitable to the actual situation in the locality.
This regulation has caused thousands of parents in Ho Chi Minh City whose children are about to enter 6th grade at some "hot" schools to worry that next year there will be no entrance exam.
Ho Chi Minh City is currently the locality with many secondary schools that conduct admission to grade 6 by using a capacity assessment test. Specifically, Tran Dai Nghia Secondary - High School (District 1); Nguyen An Khuong Secondary School (Hoc Mon District); Hoa Lu Secondary School, Binh Tho Secondary School and Tran Quoc Toan 1 Secondary School (Thu Duc City); Nguyen Huu Tho Secondary School (District 7).
