Ho Chi Minh City issues document requesting inspection of extra teaching

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training has just issued a document on extra teaching, requiring inspection units to resolutely prevent illegal extra teaching from happening.

On the morning of February 17, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City issued a document on extra teaching in the city.

Accordingly, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City requests leaders of units to urgently implement the following contents:

Firstly, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City requires leaders of units to organize, disseminate and propagate to cadres, civil servants, teachers, employees, students and parents about the regulations on extra teaching (Circular 29 of the Ministry of Education and Training);

Thoroughly educate all officials and teachers of the city's education and training sector to strictly implement regulations on extra teaching and learning; have plans to inspect and review; resolutely not allow illegal extra teaching and learning to occur inside and outside of schools.

Second, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training requests that units absolutely not loosen the organization of review and training for students with unsatisfactory learning results.

"Schools need to organize for senior students to strengthen their review for entrance exams and graduation exams according to the school's education plan.

It is necessary to identify this as the school's responsibility to help students meet the requirements set out in the 2018 General Education Program," the document stated.

Besides, the department also reminded schools to continue to synchronously implement solutions to deploy the 2018 General Education Program to ensure quality.

Regular and periodic testing and assessment must be consistent with the 2018 General Education Program, not putting pressure on students to study extra;

Timely detect, handle and propose appropriate solutions to difficulties and problems in the process of implementing the circular on extra teaching of the Ministry of Education and Training.

Absolutely no extra tutoring for primary school students

Particularly for the Department of Education and Training of Thu Duc city and districts, the department noted that it is necessary to focus on disseminating to primary schools that absolutely do not organize extra classes for primary school students;

Direct schools to adjust and develop plans to implement the 2-session/day program according to the requirements of the 2018 General Education Program;

Strengthen and supplement club activities, talent development activities (arts, sports...), life skills training, ensuring suitability with local characteristics and pick-up and drop-off times of parents;

Take measures to handle according to authority or report to competent authorities about cases of violations of regulations on extra teaching and learning in the area;...
