Ho Chi Minh City answers 2 issues of public concern about Education

(NLDO) - Ho Chi Minh City informs about teaching 2 sessions/day, considers Saturday morning classes and handles an inappropriate ethical dispute at an elementary school.

On the afternoon of September 11, at a socio -economic press conference, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City said that organizing two teaching sessions per day aims to implement a scientific general education program, reduce learning pressure, improve the quality of comprehensive education and narrow the gap between schools and regions.

Consider teaching Saturday mornings

According to the Department of Education and Training, depending on the conditions of facilities and teaching staff, schools proactively arrange reasonable class periods so that students have more time to review, practice skills, and develop talents.

For schools that have implemented 2 sessions/day, Saturday morning classes are only organized for enrichment activities for gifted students, tutoring for weak students or programs according to needs, on a voluntary basis.

Schools that do not meet the conditions will prioritize off-session classes during the week, and only arrange Saturday mornings when absolutely necessary.

Notably, the Department of Education and Training will issue a document regulating school entry and exit times for students of all levels in the 2025-2026 school year so that schools can unify their timetables.

The education sector also pays special attention to the psychology of students and parents, especially primary school students, when changing the curriculum and learning methods. Schools are required to increase psychological counseling, arrange specialized staff, design educational activities in an experiential and close direction, creating a positive connection between teachers and students.

In addition, the Department of Education and Training requires schools to publicize their study plans, discuss thoroughly with parents, and encourage meetings and information sharing to create consensus. The goal is to help students not only acquire knowledge but also develop comprehensively in terms of physical, mental, and life skills, so that each day at school is truly a joy.

The Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City will issue a document regulating school entry and exit times for students of all levels in the 2025-2026 school year.

Removing inappropriate school ethics paintings

Also at the press conference, Mr. Huynh Minh Trinh, Head of the Department of Culture and Society of the People's Committee of Phu My Ward (HCMC), said that he had handled the case of Quang Trung Primary School hanging a picture of school ethics, which was reported by parents as inappropriate.

Immediately after receiving the information, the Ward People's Committee inspected and worked with the school. The school leaders admitted that they had hung the paintings to support moral education but had not carefully checked the content and source of publication. On September 9, the Ward's Department of Culture and Society requested the school to comply with the provisions of the 2019 Education Law. After that, the school removed all the paintings.

Previously, parents reported that many large paintings hung in hallways, classrooms and the principal's office displayed teachings in the form of the law of cause and effect, published by a private company.
