The Office of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has just sent a document to the Department of Construction, the Department of Agriculture and Environment and related localities to coordinate with the investor to resolve the site clearance work, and at the same time consider the possibility of temporarily borrowing land at some locations to serve the construction of the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway expansion project.

Previously, Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC) presented the plan and sought opinions from relevant parties. According to VEC, construction site is a key factor that directly affects the project's progress.
Two construction solutions were proposed. Option 1 is to build a service road along the route, with the condition that the site must be handed over before November 15. The advantage of this option is that it does not affect the operation of the existing expressway, but it depends entirely on the progress of site clearance. Option 2 is to take advantage of the emergency lane on the expressway in operation, and construct at night from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. This solution is more flexible but has limited time and may affect traffic.
In addition, VEC also requested Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai and related localities to support the temporary borrowing of neighboring land to arrange construction sites, ensuring enough area for implementation.
The project to expand the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway to 8-10 lanes is considered an urgent project, aiming to meet the need to connect with Long Thanh airport. At the groundbreaking ceremony on August 19, VEC pledged to make every effort to complete the project in 2026, in which the Long Thanh bridge will be closed in December 2026 and completed in the first quarter of 2027.
