Photo exhibition: "General Vo Nguyen Giap's mark on Dien Bien Phu"

(Quang Binh Portal) - To celebrate the 113th anniversary of General Vo Nguyen Giap's birthday, and at the same time to introduce the great contributions, leadership role and strategic decisions of General Vo Nguyen Giap in the resistance war against France in general and the Dien Bien Phu Campaign in particular, on the morning of August 20, 2024, the Dien Bien Phu Historical Victory Museum in coordination with the Quang Binh General Museum organized the photo exhibition "General Vo Nguyen Giap's imprint on Dien Bien Phu".

May 7, 1954, entered world history with the Dien Bien Phu victory that “resounded throughout the five continents, shook the earth”. It was a great feat of arms of our entire Party, army and people, ending the nine-year long resistance war against French colonialism. As the years passed, the Dien Bien Phu victory will forever be a shining symbol of revolutionary heroism; a pioneering flag for the national liberation movement, gaining independence and freedom for the Fatherland of the people of peace- loving countries around the world.

The Dien Bien Phu victory is associated with the name and military strategy of General Vo Nguyen Giap - Commander-in-Chief of the campaign, the eldest brother of the Vietnam People's Army, the legendary general, the military genius of the era and the excellent and outstanding student of President Ho Chi Minh, who has been known, admired and respected by the whole world; the General's contributions and sacrifices will forever be recorded in the glorious history of our nation and our army as an immortal epic with the spirit of "Putting public service first" as the General's name: "Culture takes care of national affairs, Literature becomes Martial, Martial understands the hearts of the people, Martial becomes Literature".

The exhibition aims to introduce the great contributions, leadership role and strategic decisions of General - Commander-in-Chief Vo Nguyen Giap in the resistance war against France in general and the Dien Bien Phu Campaign in particular; at the same time, honor the glorious feats of arms of the Vietnamese army and people in the Dien Bien Phu Campaign in 1954; arouse national pride, the will to fight steadfastly, indomitably, overcoming all difficulties and challenges in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.

The exhibition includes 103 documentary photos divided into 3 parts: Homeland and family of General Vo Nguyen Giap; General Vo Nguyen Giap with the Dien Bien Phu campaign and the affection of Dien Bien people for General Vo Nguyen Giap.

Through the exhibition, we aim to honor and express gratitude for the great merits and contributions of General Vo Nguyen Giap to the cause of national liberation, national unification, building and defending the Fatherland; to remember the sacred feelings and deep concern of the beloved General for the people of the whole country in general, for the Party Committee, government, army and people of all ethnic groups in Dien Bien province in particular; to propagate and educate the younger generation about deep gratitude to the generation of fathers and brothers who sacrificed their blood for the independence and freedom of the nation.
