(NLDO) – The Department of Education and Training of Da Nang City pointed out a series of violations at Thien Lap Nhan English Center (Thanh Khe District, Da Nang City).

On November 13, the Department of Education and Training of Da Nang City announced the results of the inspection and handling of press and citizen feedback on the teaching activities of Thien Lap Nhan English Center (headquartered at 177 Hai Phong , Thanh Khe District, Da Nang City).

Through inspection, the Department of Education and Training of Da Nang City requested Thien Lap Nhan English Center to organize activities according to the program reported to the Department and strictly prohibit the organization of boarding activities for students.

On October 16, the Department of Education and Training established a team to inspect the operations of two facilities under the Center. The team determined that the Center currently has 27 people, including 1 Director, 7 staff members, 12 teachers, and 2 foreign teachers.

Regarding the training program, the Center uses internal documents for teaching, documents are compiled according to reference documents and English learning guide links. The Center representative also confirmed that it does not use textbooks and is not related to Prinberk Academy.

Thien Lap Nhan English Center was discovered to be using unqualified teachers.

In particular, the Department of Education and Training discovered that some teachers did not meet the prescribed standards. The unit also did not publicize the conditions for ensuring the organization of activities (legal documents, programs, staff, tuition fees...) according to the provisions of Circular 09/2024/TT-BGDDT, and did not organize health check-ups for employees...

The Department of Education and Training requested the Center to stop assigning teaching to unqualified teachers; build an electronic information page to make it public; ensure the rights of employees according to regulations, and request to continue to properly implement the regulations in Circular No. 21/2018/TT-BGDDT. At the same time, it also handled administrative violations against the Center.

In the first 10 months of 2024, the Department of Education and Training of Da Nang City inspected 16 foreign language centers; processed complaints against 4 foreign language centers and 1 life skills center.

Temporarily suspend the operations of 2 foreign language centers and dissolve 16 foreign language centers that do not meet the conditions to continue operating.

"The Department has drawn up a record to handle the act of employing teachers who do not meet the standards set by the center. The specific penalty will be based on legal regulations," said the leader of the Department of Education and Training of Da Nang City.

Currently, the Department of Education and Training of Da Nang City has assigned functional departments to coordinate with relevant agencies and local authorities to inspect, clarify, resolutely and strictly handle violations (if any) in accordance with their authority and promptly inform the public.

Previously, the Lao Dong Newspaper published an article reflecting that although it was only licensed to train English programs for children, Thien Lap Nhan English Center showed signs of organizing boarding schools, teaching subjects other than English such as math, science , history, etc. At the same time, the Center operated like a regular high school with a schedule mainly during office hours.

Many parents reported that because they believed that Thien Lap Nhan English Center was affiliated with Prinberk Academy (USA), their children could go abroad to study under an international program, so they let their children study full-time at the center without going to a regular school.

"This goes against the spirit of "All people send children to school". I will reconsider my child's education at the center," a parent expressed after the article was published.
