Automate operations, production, and business activities

At the Conference of the Prime Minister working with state-owned enterprises on digital transformation, promoting organizational growth on April 15, Mr. Huynh Quang Liem, General Director of VNPT Group - a large domestic enterprise specializing in investment, production, and business in the field of telecommunications and information technology, emphasized the importance of digital transformation in the operation, management, and administration of enterprises. This is a "life and death" issue for enterprises in the new situation, especially for service providers like VNPT.

According to Mr. Huynh Quang Liem, at VNPT, digital transformation is considered the core of the Group's strategic operational orientations. Over the past 7 years, VNPT has embarked on a digital transformation journey with specific steps, strategies, goals, and clear action plans for all levels of the enterprise.

Specifically, VNPT is determined to optimize and automate production and business operations so that all levels of management operate on data and from data reality.

Along with the national digital transformation mission, the Group also identifies its pioneering responsibility and has been contributing service solutions to the country such as: national public services for provincial, city and ministry and branch authorities in forming a national database (including: population, land, civil servants); applications on administrative management of local authorities, ministries and branches.

In particular, recently, the Group has brought artificial intelligence into the actual operations of ministries, branches and localities.

  Experience from process transformation to big data building

Sharing successful internal digital transformation experiences, VNPT leaders pointed out 3 basic stages of the business.

Phase 1: Digital transformation of processes, digitization of processes, optimization of the entire internal operating system. At VNPT, the entire process of providing telecommunications and information technology services has been completely digitized, from new issuance, upgrading, service renewal, to construction, supervision and operation.

VNPT's sales and customer care department, with more than 40,000 technical and sales staff, now operates in a digital environment and provides services entirely in a digital environment.

All administrative contents such as document system, human resources, salary, KPI assessment and all business indicators are managed and operated online.

From 2022, with legal regulations, digital signatures, electronic contracts, and electronic invoices will be deployed throughout the Group, helping all transactions operate in a digital environment.

"The effect of this phase is doubling productivity," said Mr. Huynh Quang Liem.

In phase 2, VNPT has built a big data platform, an internal enterprise knowledge repository and a unified platform. During this phase, VNPT has also invested in a big data system, with a capacity of about 20 Petabytes and the ability to process 20TB per day. This is one of the systems with the leading capacity of Vietnamese enterprises in all fields.

With this big data infrastructure, common activities such as: sales, customer care; technical activities; business operations and management; service provision activities... are all consolidated with data, built and stored in a systematic, centralized, and professional manner, to serve data-based operations.

At the same time, ensure that data targets must be standardized and integrated across the entire system of 63 provinces and cities with a scale of serving tens of millions of customers; ensure uniformity, transparency and traceability of data; ensure safety and security of information to serve continuous operations.

With those foundations, VNPT has developed an intelligent data mining system, helping to transform data from transactions, operations, and customer interactions into data serving the management industry.

Thereby, it is possible to directly monitor business indicators such as: revenue, costs to each small unit; can forecast operating trends, analyze data based on real data; propose recommendations, and provide operating policies in an authentic, flexible and fast manner.

More importantly, data has become the foundation for connecting departments within the Group, avoiding overlap and creating a practical operating culture based on data instead of administrative and emotional operations.

Sales and technical staff have virtual assistants

Phase 3, this phase will be deployed from the beginning of 2024 and is expected to be officially put into operation in June 2025, which is the deployment of artificial intelligence into operation. This is the solution to the problems of enterprises from the big data platforms that VNPT already has, from the intellectual foundations of enterprises, including regulations, processes and statutes.

VNPT's data and knowledge infrastructure is integrated with artificial intelligence, and all VNPT's sales and technical staff have their own virtual assistants to advise and take care of customers in the smartest way. VNPT can equip thousands of technical and sales staff with tools, through which they can understand, advise customers, and serve them best. All levels of management have the most immediate and clear information.

From its own digital transformation experience, VNPT realizes that digital transformation is vital for businesses and requires the attention of leaders at all levels. In particular, this is also an innovation in the production organization model.

With the development and change of digital transformation from operating processes, from big data and from artificial data, with Vietnam's development applications, with the data capacity of Vietnamese enterprises, with the management of Vietnamese enterprises, VNPT commits to accompany enterprises to replicate and turn this implementation into a lever to increase labor productivity, improve operational efficiency and expand growth space for each enterprise and each industry.
