Commending brave students who 'caught thieves with their bare hands'

On December 12, the People's Committee of Hai Rieng Town (Song Hinh District, Phu Yen ) announced that it had awarded a certificate of merit to Kpa Y Sem (in Buon Danh, EaBia Commune, Song Hinh District), a student of class 11B2 at Nguyen Du High School, for his brave actions in chasing and successfully catching a motorbike thief in the area.

Representatives of Hai Rieng Town leaders and Hai Rieng Town Police presented a certificate of merit to Y Sem.

At around 9:40 p.m. on December 2, while hanging out with his brother, Kpa Y Anh (18 years old), Kpa Y Sem discovered a person driving a motorbike with license plate 72 C1-177.43 similar to his friend's motorbike that had been stolen earlier.

Y Sem immediately called the Hai Rieng Town Police to report the incident and at the same time chased the driver of the motorbike with license plate 72 C1-177.43.

After chasing for more than 8 km, Y Sem arrested the suspected motorbike thief and handed him over to the police.

Through verification, Hai Rieng Town Police identified the arrested suspect of stealing a motorbike as NHH (14 years old, in Song Hinh commune, Song Sinh district).

According to the leader of Hai Rieng Town Police, Y Sem's brave act of catching a thief demonstrates the spirit of fighting and preventing crime, promoting the spirit of the entire people protecting national security.
