In the gaming world , Smurfing is a term used to describe high-level gamers who intentionally create new accounts to play with new or weaker players. Therefore, Smurfing is considered an unfair gaming practice.

Valve Cracks Down on Smurfing in DOTA 2

Valve wrote on the DOTA 2 blog: "If you're on the Naughty List, we have good news for everyone else and bad news for you, because this year is going to be a bloodbath. We've continued to invest in monitoring player behavior, both manually and automatically. Over the past few weeks, there's been a wave of more aggressive bans, with tens of thousands of Smurf accounts banned in a single day."

Now, when starting the game, DOTA 2 players will receive a special gift called 'Frostivus Gift'. Depending on the player's behavior, the gift can be a ban or warning if they are on the Naughty List, or a free set of items if they are on the Nice List.
