Why do people with a salary of 5 million still go to coffee shops regularly?

So why are more and more young people sitting in coffee shops despite their limited income?

Going to a coffee shop is a basic need

Sharing his income of just over 8 million VND/month, Mr. Quoc Hung (32 years old, Da Nang ) said that he goes to a coffee shop at least once a day. “I usually drink coffee in the morning to stay awake to work. Every time I meet a client, I also choose to meet at a coffee shop,” Mr. Hung said.

With a salary of more than 5 million VND/month, Ms. Lan Anh (26 years old, Quang Nam ) said that although she does not drink coffee, she still goes to coffee shops more than 5 times a week on average.

Lan Anh shared: “With a modest income like mine, if I want to entertain myself in my free time, choosing a coffee shop is the most economical choice . What could be more suitable for a date with my lover with a price range of under 100,000 VND? If my income is higher, there will be more options.”

Seeing many friends feeling “tickled” by the information that low-income people are the ones who spend the most time in coffee shops, Ms. Yen Binh (35 years old, Da Nang) shared that the important thing to discuss is that the city's salary cannot keep up with skyrocketing prices, making a cup of coffee something worth paying attention to.

Currently, the starting salary of many young people is still 5 million VND/month, while the price of a cup of coffee has increased from 10,000 VND 10 years ago to 30,000 - 40,000 VND at present.

Ms. Binh thinks that it is normal for low-income young people to still spend on a cup of coffee every day because this is a basic human need.

“If you can save money, that’s great, but if you can’t, that’s fine too. Instead, if drinking coffee helps you stay awake and increases your work efficiency, it’s still a good idea,” said Ms. Binh.

Young people like to work in coffee shops

Notably, among the many reasons young people often go to coffee shops, the reason given most often is that they like to work in coffee shops.

Ms. Xuan Quynh (28 years old, Da Nang) said that almost every day she hangs around coffee shops for workers, which are fully equipped with electrical outlets, appropriately designed tables and chairs, and a quiet space, both collective and private.

“For extroverts like me, the atmosphere and inspiration in a coffee shop will increase my creativity,” said Quynh.

Ms. Ai Vy (30 years old, Ho Chi Minh City) said that for those who do not have to work in an office, coffee shops are the best space.

“Free space, flexible seating, self-controlled hours. I find myself working more efficiently and when I surf Facebook or watch videos, no one is watching or scrutinizing me,” said Ms. Vy.

Ms. Hue Man (29 years old, Hanoi) said: "The dynamic environment in a coffee shop helps increase work enthusiasm more than the quiet space in an office.

Looking around, everyone is working, so I can't be lazy and especially can change shops constantly to avoid boredom.

Considering the economic problem of staying at home, it costs a lot of money for electricity and air conditioning, and not being able to control the number of times you open the refrigerator to eat and drink can easily lead to weight gain.
