Hosting the Conference continues to affirm Vietnam's efforts as well as demonstrate the positive, proactive, responsible spirit, role and position of our country in the ASEAN community.
In particular, hosting the Conference at this time is even more meaningful when our country and people have just successfully organized the Great Ceremony to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2.
The event not only has great epochal significance, arousing patriotism, the desire for freedom, independence, self-reliance, and building a prosperous and happy country, but also contributes to promoting to international friends a steadfast and indomitable Vietnam during the war and now has risen to become a politically stable country with a high economic growth rate, increasingly expanding relations with international friends.
Hosting the ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Sports is therefore a vivid way to introduce the image of Vietnam, its people and its outstanding achievements after 80 years to regional and international friends. At the same time, it introduces a safe, friendly, hospitable and culturally rich destination to international friends. The conference is also an opportunity to strengthen friendship and mutual understanding within the ASEAN community.
This is also an opportunity for Vietnam to effectively implement the Party and State's major policies on multilateral foreign affairs, in the spirit of Conclusion No. 59-KL/TW of the Politburo, Directive No. 25-CT/TW of the Secretariat and Decision No. 161/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister .
As the host country, Vietnam has made careful preparations and is ready to welcome about 200 delegates to the Conference. Participants include Ministers, Deputy Ministers or heads of sports agencies of ASEAN countries and Timor Leste; senior ASEAN sports officials; representatives of ministries and sports agencies of Japan and China, and relevant international organizations.
On the Vietnamese side, there were also the participation of leaders of the Government, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, representatives of ministries, branches and domestic guests.
The conference is considered a valuable opportunity for countries to discuss, exchange experiences, and plan directions for regional sports in the coming time. At the same time, it opens up opportunities for cooperation and exchange in the field of sports between countries in the Southeast Asian region.
