Expressing his joy and appreciation for the visit and work in Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh City of Cuban National Assembly Chairman Esteban Lazo Hernandez, Ho Chi Minh City Party Secretary Tran Luu Quang affirmed that the special relationship between Vietnam and Cuba over the past 65 years has continuously developed, become increasingly strong and become a typical relationship of pure, loyal and close international solidarity. All Vietnamese people, including Ho Chi Minh City, always have special feelings for Cuba; the Vietnamese people always remember the immortal words of the late President Fidel Castro "For Vietnam, Cuba is willing to sacrifice its blood".
Listening to an overview of the current socio -economic situation in Cuba, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Tran Luu Quang acknowledged that those difficulties were similar to those in Vietnam 40 years ago and that he had gradually made efforts to overcome them for the sake of the people's lives and happiness.
According to Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Tran Luu Quang, Cuba has been making very correct assessments in promoting socio-economic development, which is food and energy; at the same time, emphasizing that Vietnam's cooperation and experience sharing methods are gradually helping Cuban people to be able to produce high-yield rice in the future.
Regarding economic cooperation between the two countries, Secretary of the City Party Committee Tran Luu Quang respectfully thanked Cuba for providing very special mechanisms for Vietnamese enterprises such as tax exemptions, land leases and labor recruitment... but to effectively attract investment, especially Vietnamese enterprises, Cuba needs to further expand preferential conditions and policies because the current exchange rate in Cuba will make it difficult to attract enterprises and investors.
“If we want to attract businesses, we must help businesses that are investing to be successful and develop strongly. Ho Chi Minh City is committed to actively participating in cooperation with Cuban partners, including investment issues in the coming time, especially on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of late President Fidel Castro,” said Secretary of the City Party Committee Tran Luu Quang.
On behalf of the Cuban National Assembly delegation, President of the Cuban National Assembly Esteban Lazo Hernandez thanked the leaders of Ho Chi Minh City for taking the time to receive the delegation and sharing valuable experiences in the process of building and developing the country, and developing the City into the economic locomotive of the whole country.
Returning to Vietnam and visiting Ho Chi Minh City on this occasion, President of the Cuban National Assembly Esteban Lazo Hernandez expressed his impression of the economic, social and foreign development achievements of Vietnam in general and Ho Chi Minh City in particular in recent times; affirming that the results and victories of the Vietnamese people are always a great source of encouragement and motivation for the revolutionary cause of the Cuban people.
Informing about the situation and the difficulties and challenges that Cuba is facing, President of the Cuban National Assembly Esteban Lazo Hernandez said that the policies and solutions that the Cuban Party and State are implementing aim to stabilize and develop the socio-economy and improve the lives of the people. Therefore, Cuba attaches great importance to consulting and absorbing practical experiences from Vietnam, especially in the process of Renovation and building socialism, especially from 58% of poor households in 1993 to the end of 2024, it has been reduced to 2%.
“We are also very interested in and studying the Resolutions that the Communist Party of Vietnam has just issued; the National Assembly of Vietnam has also passed more than 50 draft laws. That is a lesson learned at the central level and going into the reality in Ho Chi Minh City to learn about the success at the commune and ward levels - where there are valuable experiences that contribute to the great changes in Vietnam”, shared President of the Cuban National Assembly Esteban Lazo Hernandez.
Informing about the policies that the Cuban Party and State have for Vietnamese enterprises, President of the Cuban National Assembly Esteban Lazo Hernandez hopes that Vietnamese investors as well as Ho Chi Minh City will continue to pay attention to expanding and improving investment efficiency in the fields of economics, education, biotechnology and healthcare, science and technology...
The President of the Cuban National Assembly affirmed that Cuba values the participation of Vietnamese enterprises in the process of updating the economic model; highly appreciated the results of Vietnam's support and cooperation in improving agricultural production capacity towards ensuring food security, implementing renewable energy projects, and producing consumer goods in Cuba...
