VNPT successfully tested 'tailor-made' 5G technology according to needs

Two advanced telecommunications technologies have just been successfully tested by VNPT, opening a major turning point in the development of smart connection infrastructure and digital services in Vietnam.

On September 10, 2025, Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group ( VNPT ) announced the successful testing of two new technologies including Network Slicing and Network API, marking an important step forward in the strategy of building a flexible and smart telecommunications infrastructure to serve national digital transformation.

This activity is part of the roadmap for deploying the 5G standalone network (5G SA), aiming to create a space for developing outstanding digital services, serving diverse needs from individuals to businesses and organizations.

Network Slicing – Turn a shared network into a “tailor-made” network

By applying Network Slicing technology on the 5G SA platform, VNPT's physical network infrastructure will be divided into many virtual "slices", each slice is designed separately in terms of bandwidth, latency and reliability. This allows each service to use a separate transmission line, optimized according to the specific needs of customers.

This technology opens up many practical applications such as: Smart factories have their own networks to control production lines, seaports operate thousands of surveillance cameras at the same time, or public services such as fire, police, and medical services have priority transmission lines in emergency situations. For individual users, this technology helps increase accuracy and reduce latency in activities such as remote drone control or live television.

Network API allows customers to interact directly with the VNPT network to request connection quality settings in real time. For example, VIP customers of MyTV service can request the network to prioritize transmission when watching football matches or high-quality movies, ensuring a smooth, lag-free experience.

Instead of just providing bandwidth, Network API helps VNPT provide flexible service packages, meeting the individual needs of each customer.

According to Ms. Rita Mokbel - General Director of Ericsson Vietnam - VNPT's pioneering application of Network Slicing and Network API demonstrates its long-term vision and leading position in the digital era. This is an opportunity for the Vietnamese telecommunications industry to diversify its service models, optimize revenue and increase value from network infrastructure.

Mr. Nguyen Nam Long - Deputy General Director of VNPT - affirmed that the successful testing of these two technologies will help VNPT build an open, smart and flexible infrastructure, supporting businesses, developers and organizations to develop outstanding digital products and services. This is a step demonstrating VNPT's commitment to accompanying the Government and global partners to promote the rapid, sustainable and in-depth development of Vietnam's digital ecosystem.
