The case of denouncing dirty food in boarding meals: Temporarily suspending the principal's work

The People's Committee of Xuan Huong Ward - Da Lat decided to temporarily suspend the principal of Trung Vuong Primary School (Da Lat) to clarify violations in the case of accusing the school of using dirty food in boarding meals.

On the morning of September 25, the People's Committee of Xuan Huong Ward - Da Lat announced that it had issued a decision to temporarily suspend Ms. Nguyen Thai Quynh Nga - Principal of Trung Vuong Primary School - for 15 days to serve the verification and investigation of bringing dirty food into the school's boarding kitchen. The suspension period is calculated according to 15 working days, starting from September 24.

With the same decision, the People's Committee of Xuan Huong Ward - Da Lat assigned Mr. Nguyen Vinh Hien - Head of the Ward's Culture and Social Affairs Department - to be in charge of Trung Vuong Primary School during the time Ms. Nga was temporarily suspended.

Mr. Hien is responsible for fully performing the duties of Head of the Department of Culture and Society and Principal of the school to ensure teaching and learning activities, coordinate with the inspection team, archive records and provide information for verification.

The Inspection Committee of the Party Committee of Xuan Huong Ward - Da Lat also issued a decision and plan to inspect signs of violations against the Party Secretary and the Party Committee of Trung Vuong Primary School. Currently, Ms. Nguyen Thai Quynh Nga is the Party Secretary of the school.

The inspection focuses on the implementation of principles and processes for leadership and management of boarding kitchens, the responsibilities of the head, and compliance with regulations on food safety and finance related to boarding activities.

The move took place in the context of Trung Vuong Primary School being accused by some members of the boarding kitchen team for the 2024-2025 school year and parents of allowing suppliers to bring dirty food into the kitchen, affecting the meals of 720 students.

Previously, on the evening of September 19, Vice Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee Dinh Van Tuan directed relevant agencies to resolve the incident and requested the entire province to rectify the organization of school meals.

On September 23, at an online conference to review the socio -economic situation in the past 9 months, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Muoi criticized the slow handling of the situation and asked the police, health authorities and local authorities to urgently clarify the quality of meals, food quality and the responsibility of the principal.

Check food quality in all school kitchens

On the local side, the People's Committee of Xuan Huong Ward - Da Lat has established an interdisciplinary inspection team to inspect all boarding kitchens and food safety work at educational establishments in the area for 30 days from September 22, and at the same time review non-budgetary revenue and expenditure related to boarding activities.

On September 20, Trung Vuong Primary School also temporarily suspended lunches because suppliers requested to stop delivering food and the school was waiting to select a new contractor.
