The 2025 World Wushu Championship will be held in Brazil from August 31 to September 8. The Vietnamese Wushu team will compete with 12 players, competing in the men's and women's categories for taolu (performance) and sparring.
In the women's 52kg category, martial artist Ngo Thi Phuong Nga entered the final match and convincingly won 2-0 against opponent Aparna (India) to win the first gold medal for the Vietnamese Wushu team.
Next, Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy competed in the final of the women's 56kg weight class against the host Brazilian boxer - Beatriz Silva and also won 2-0, thereby bringing home the next gold medal for the team.
In addition to the two gold medals of Thu Thuy and Phuong Nga, Vietnamese Wushu also won two silver medals and three bronze medals.
Two silver medals came from Nguyen Thi Lan (women's 48kg) and Dinh Van Tam (men's 52kg).
The bronze medalists include: Duong Thuy Vi (female spearmanship), Hua Van Doan (male 56kg category) and Truong Van Chuong (male 70kg category).
Thus, at the end of the 2025 World Championship, the Vietnamese Wushu team won 2 gold medals, 2 silver medals and 3 bronze medals.
After the tournament in Brazil, the players returned home to continue professional training towards attending the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand next December.
