Tough opponent of U.17 Vietnam
Vietnam U17 will participate in Group I of the 2025 AFC U17 Championship qualifiers from October 23 to 27 at Phu Tho Stadium. Coach Cristiano Roland's team's opponents are Kyrgyzstan U17, Myanmar U17 and Yemen U17.
This is considered a difficult group for U.17 Vietnam. Because besides the familiar opponent U.17 Myanmar in Southeast Asia, both U.17 Kyrgyzstan and U.17 Yemen are difficult unknowns.
U.17 Vietnam trains before the tournament
Yemeni football is not considered a "big name" in West Asia, but it is worth remembering that in the U.23 Asian qualifiers a year ago, U.23 Vietnam had to work very hard to defeat U.23 Yemen. Coach Philippe Troussier's team was constantly bombarded by the opponent's goal, and had to wait until the last minutes to score the only goal thanks to Bui Vi Hao.
Yemeni youth football has improved over the years, especially in terms of tactics. Therefore, this is an opponent that U.17 Vietnam must be very careful with.
Similarly, U.17 Kyrgyzstan also promises to be a "difficult" match for U.17 Vietnam. Kyrgyzstan football has grown strongly when the national team of this country entered the third qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup.
At different levels, Vietnamese football has often encountered difficulties against Kyrgyzstan in the past 2 years. While U.23 Vietnam lost to U.23 Kyrgyzstan on penalties at the Doha Cup 2023, the Vietnamese team was also defeated by the opponent with a score of 2-1 in a friendly match before the Asian Cup 2023.

Challenge
In the U.17 Asia qualifiers, U.17 Vietnam needs to win the group, or finish second in the group but in the group of best second-place teams to get a ticket to the final round.
Coach Cristiano Roland affirmed: "Through the training sessions, the players have understood my ideas and they need to do better. Above all, their efforts and desire have increased day by day. Right from the first training session, the players have shown their desire and that has given the coaching staff more motivation to train the team.
The young players still have a long way to go, but with their current development potential, we look forward to the day they can play in the V-League and contribute to the national team."
Vietnam U.17 has completed its training trip in India. After the friendly tournaments with positive results, Coach Roland will finalize the official squad to participate in the qualifying campaign.
The mission of Mr. Roland and his students is to win tickets to the Asian finals.
