The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hai Phong City is implementing many solutions to develop railway tourism and build Hai Phong Station into a tourist destination.
On the afternoon of March 19, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hai Phong held a working session with Vietnam Railways Corporation and related units to exchange opinions on supporting and developing the "Red Flamboyant" train product and organizing a "Delicious Food Festival" at Hai Phong Station. The above activities are in response to the Red Flamboyant Festival and to celebrate the 70th Anniversary of Hai Phong Liberation Day (May 13, 1955 - May 13, 2025).
Accordingly, in order to develop railway tourism products, Vietnam Railways Corporation plans to put into operation 20 new carriages on the Hanoi - Hai Phong railway line. The carriages are designed in a modern style, have luxurious interiors and are named the "Red Flamboyant" train. The expected opening date of this tourism product is before May 13, 2025.
Ms. Tran Thi Hoang Mai, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hai Phong City, said: In parallel with the above activities, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the city will host the "Hai Phong Food Festival" in 2025, from May 9-14, 2025 at Hai Phong Station. The event attracts over 40 food stalls, Hai Phong delicacies, local specialties in the city and tourist gifts.
At the meeting, the design consultant presented the overall design proposal for the booths at the “Hai Phong Food Festival” and the “Red Flamboyant” train. Through these activities, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the city hopes to promote and develop tourism in the area, especially railway tourism, and at the same time aim to build Hai Phong Station into a tourist destination.
Previously, on the occasion of Lunar New Year 2025, the train cars on the Hanoi - Hai Phong route were decorated with the breath of spring, creating more experiences for tourists, becoming a new check-in point for young people in Hai Phong.
