Build a new house, build trust

Identifying the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses as a key task of great significance, in recent times, all levels, sectors and localities in the province have actively implemented and promoted propaganda with the spirit of "leaving no one behind". Each newly completed house is not only a stable place to eat and live, but also creates motivation for people to strive in labor production and improve their lives.

Stable housing, confident economic development

Visiting the new, spacious house of 100 square meters with 3 bedrooms and 1 living room of Mr. Nguyen Van Vy's family in Be Trieu village, Bac Quang commune, one can clearly feel the joy of everyone living in a sturdy house. The old house was built in 2007, with a thatched roof that no longer ensures safety during storms. Life became even more difficult when his child suffered from septicemia and mental retardation, all medical expenses fell on the couple's shoulders.

The family of Ms. Luong Thi Men (middle) in Minh Tam village, Bac Quang commune received financial support to build a new, spacious house.
The family of Ms. Luong Thi Men (middle) in Minh Tam village, Bac Quang commune received financial support to build a new, spacious house.

When the government supported him to build a new house, he personally participated in the construction, combined with exchanging more than 60 working days with his neighbors, reducing the burden of hiring workers. Mr. Vy shared: "Thank you to the Party and the State for their care and support. Now that we have a solid house, my family feels more secure to continue treating our child and stabilize our lives." Currently, Mr. Vy stays at home to take care of his child and works as a construction worker to earn extra income, while his wife also feels secure working at a company in Hai Phong city with a salary of 5 - 6 million VND/month.

Like Mr. Vy's family, Ms. Luong Thi Men's family in Minh Tam village, Bac Quang commune, is one of the poor households that received support to build a new house. Sharing about her situation, Ms. Men emotionally recounted: "My son is currently working in Bac Ninh . The house is rotten and dilapidated for a long time. I live alone. Every time it rains, I have to use a cane, wear a raincoat, and a hat and go to the house next door to take temporary shelter. I had a stroke and was paralyzed on one side of my body. The cost of treatment has made it impossible for my family to save. Fortunately, the State supported me to build a house and borrowed an additional 80 million VND from the Social Policy Bank. The house has been completed and I have been living in it for more than two months, so my son can go to work with peace of mind to gradually pay off the loan."

In Minh Phu village 1, Yen Phu commune, Ms. Do Thi Tinh's family is a poor household, living in a small, dilapidated house for many years but not being able to build a new house. Thanks to capital from the national target program and the help of the government, relatives, and neighbors, her family has a solid and safe house. Ms. Tinh shared: "All construction materials such as iron, bricks, and sand are 100% supported by relatives in the family, now every rainy and stormy season the family no longer has to worry."

Or like Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong in the same village, living alone without husband or children, her house is seriously degraded but she does not have the conditions to pay for the house construction. To help, the Party Committee and the commune government mobilized resources, the entire construction of the new house was supported by commune officials from the survey stage to the construction organization; when there was a lack of materials, relatives contributed wood to make doors and floors to ensure the house was spacious and solid.

Together, united, and implemented

With a large area and a large number of temporary houses that need to be removed, as soon as the implementation began, with the attention, leadership and close direction of the Steering Committee for the implementation of temporary and dilapidated house removal at the provincial and communal levels, localities have resolutely implemented it. Many localities have good and flexible ways of doing things such as mobilizing thousands of working days to make the temporary house removal happen as quickly and effectively as possible; mobilizing the cooperation of businesses and individuals to have more funding sources for households, helping to make new houses more solid.

According to the report of the People's Committee of Tuyen Quang province, as of July 4, 2025, the number of completed and put into use houses in the whole province reached 12,737/15,856 units, equivalent to 80.33% of the plan. With the spirit of mutual love, the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses received high consensus and agreement from the entire political system, and enthusiastic response from households and communities. Not only for households benefiting from the program, in many villages, people voluntarily contributed working days and materials, together supporting households from dismantling old houses, digging foundations, building walls until completing new houses. That spirit spreads like a beautiful and affectionate trait, lighting up hope for many people in difficult circumstances.

Chairman of Yen Phu Commune People's Committee, Mr. Trinh Quoc Sang, said: The temporary housing elimination program has been effectively implemented, mobilizing the cooperation of Party committees, authorities and people in the area. Up to now, the whole commune has completed the construction of 24/22 houses as planned, of which 16 have been put into use, 8 are being completed. Notably, in addition to the 22 houses implemented as planned, the commune also mobilized social resources to build 2 more houses. Along with that, the locality is focusing on implementing solutions, issuing poverty reduction plans, striving to have at least 52 households escape poverty by the end of 2025.

The success of the temporary housing elimination program is not only reflected in the numbers, but more importantly, in the spirit of solidarity and consensus in the community. This is an important step to help poor, near-poor households, and policy families stabilize their lives and strive to develop the economy, escape poverty sustainably. The new houses not only help people settle down, but also provide a solid foundation for people to work, produce, and improve their quality of life.
