(DN) - "I used to dream of working hard so that my children would not have to drop out of school like their mother did, but then a serious illness suddenly struck, my health was like an oil lamp hanging in the wind, I was helpless, in pain and desperate when I saw my young children facing the fear of lack of food, lack of clothing and an uncertain future" - Ms. Chu Thi Phuong, Hamlet 1, Dong Tam Commune, choked up in tears.

Just turned 35 years old, this should be the time when Ms. Phuong would be devoting all her energy and energy to building her economy , raising her children and building a complete home, but instead she was tormented by a serious illness.

In March 2025, with many unusual signs of health, Ms. Phuong went to the doctor and received the conclusion: cervical cancer, needing immediate hospitalization for radiation therapy at a cost of 30 million VND. Due to lack of money, she had to ask to go home, gritting her teeth and enduring the prolonged pain. While fighting cancer, in August 2025, she suffered a heart attack and pulmonary embolism and had to be rushed to Hospital 115 ( Ho Chi Minh City). Currently, her health is very weak, often in pain and having difficulty breathing.

To have money to treat his wife, Ly Minh Hieu (43 years old) had to borrow money everywhere. The amount of money borrowed grew bigger and bigger, the debt piled up, causing the family to fall into a deadlock. Both sides of the family were also poor. Ms. Phuong had to drop out of school after secondary school, leave her hometown in Nghe An , and follow her uncle to Dong Tam commune to find a job.

Hieu is a Khmer ethnic, originally from the Western region. His childhood was not very peaceful, his parents divorced, he went to live with his father, until his father passed away, he was alone to make a living as a latex tapper.

Two miserable lives met, became husband and wife, and then had 3 children: The eldest son Le Minh Tuan (14 years old) has now had to drop out of school, following his father to work in the rubber plantation to collect latex. The second daughter Ly Ngoc Anh Duyen (10 years old) is in 3rd grade but is also at risk of dropping out of school. The youngest son Ly Dinh Nguyen (3 years old) has just started to say "mom" but has had to endure the lack of protective arms.

The charity house, with an area of ​​only 40 square meters, was built in 2003. Now it has deteriorated, is exposed to rain and sun, and is no longer able to provide shelter for a proper home.
