2,400 hectares of Summer-Autumn rice are protected from small leaf rollers

According to Document No. 1189/SNN-TT&BVTV dated July 31, 2024 of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development on focusing on directing the care and prevention of pests in the 2024 Summer-Autumn rice crop, the whole province has over 5,700 hectares of Summer-Autumn rice that need to prevent leaf rollers (CLN).

The Plant Protection Sub-Department coordinates with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Cam Khe district to regularly inspect and evaluate pest prevention and control, especially small leaf rollers, on the 2024 Summer-Autumn rice crop.

Implementing the direction of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, in recent days, the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection (TT&BVTV) and its affiliated stations have actively coordinated with localities to regularly monitor the fields, strengthen inspection, investigation, forecasting, and implement measures to direct and guide timely prevention and control of harmful organisms, especially CLN worms. Technical staff have strengthened guidance for production facilities and farmers to prevent and control CLN worms at the right time to ensure high efficiency.

As of August 6, 2,400 hectares out of 5,700 hectares of Summer-Autumn rice have been protected against CLN pests. It is forecasted that in the next few days, there will be little rain, alternating with hot weather. The Plant Protection Department has directed its affiliated stations and local technical staff to focus on instructing farmers to spray all infected areas up to the planned threshold to ensure production safety.
