This morning, in Hanoi, Vietnam Railways Corporation held a conference to review the work in 2024 and plan for tasks in 2025. Attending the conference were Deputy Minister of Transport Nguyen Danh Huy; Vice Chairman of the State Capital Management Committee at Enterprises Nguyen Ngoc Canh, along with representatives from a number of ministries, branches, provinces, cities, and transport enterprises.

In 2024, railway transport was interrupted and severely damaged by landslides at Chi Thanh tunnel and Bai Gio tunnel; along with the impact of storms Yagi and Tra Mi and many floods that severely damaged infrastructure. However, with the attention, direction and support from Party committees at all levels, the Government, the Ministry of Transport , the State Management Committee at enterprises and related ministries and branches, the close coordination of localities and the synchronous implementation of many positive and breakthrough solutions, in 2024, the Corporation's production and business results continued to maintain growth compared to the same period and exceeded the assigned plan targets. According to the summary report of Vietnam Railways Corporation, in 2024, the production and business activities of the Corporation faced many challenges, in which the railway transport sector was greatly affected by the landslide incident at Bai Gio and Chi Thanh tunnels, causing congestion on the Hanoi-Ho Chi Minh City route for over 20 days in 2 waves; storm No. 3 (Yagi), storm No. 6 (Tra Mi)... causing many damages to the unit and workers. With the spirit of solidarity, effort and innovation, it is expected that by the end of 2024, the total output of the Corporation will reach over VND 9,800 billion, an increase of 5.9% over the same period; revenue will reach over VND 9,600 billion, an increase of 7.4% over the same period; profit will reach VND 110 billion, an increase of 43.2% over the same period. In the railway transport sector, the Corporation transported over 7.1 million passengers, an increase of 15.5% over the same period; over 5.1 million tons of cargo, an increase of 10.5% over the same period. During the Lunar New Year 2025, the Corporation organized the sale of Tet train tickets earlier than every year from October 1, 2024 and the Corporation did not sell extra seats or convertible seats on trains during this year's Tet transport period to improve service quality for train passengers. By December 24, 203,308 tickets had been sold, with revenue reaching VND 250.6 billion.Vietnam Railways Corporation strives to play a core role in the railway development strategy, focusing on mobilizing all resources for production and business. The Corporation uses 54 trains, regularly operating 7 pairs of passenger trains between Hanoi and Saigon (Thong Nhat passenger trains) and 9 pairs of regional passenger trains during the 2025 Lunar New Year. In addition, the Corporation also organizes the operation of 2 additional pairs of Thong Nhat passenger trains and 3.5 pairs of regional passenger trains before and after the 2025 Lunar New Year holiday.
Regarding the need to completely handle unplanned crossings across railways by the end of 2025, however, the Corporation admitted that the funding arrangements of localities are still limited, so the progress is slow. From 2020 to now, the whole country has only eliminated 981/4,025 unplanned crossings (reaching 24.37% of the requirement), and cleared 598/11,524 violations of railway corridors (reaching 5.12% of the requirement). In addition, the Corporation has actively participated with the Ministry of Transport in completing the Project on high-speed railway on the North-South axis and proactively prepared the contents to receive management, operation, exploitation and maintenance of high-speed railway lines and newly built railway lines according to the plan, in which the immediate focus is on training human resources, researching policy mechanisms to report to competent authorities, building the Project on railway industry development and the Project on restructuring the Corporation in accordance with the new situation. Assessing 2025 as a year of special importance for the country, identified as a year of acceleration, breakthrough, overcoming difficulties, overcoming challenges, creating premises and a solid foundation for the country to enter a new era, an era of growth, the Corporation continues to resolutely implement measures to maintain the quality of passenger and customer service, prepare well means and human resources, organize flexible train operations to meet the maximum travel needs of passengers and people, especially during peak train runs during the Summer, holidays and Tet in 2025.

Revenue: over 9.4 billion VND, equal to 100.1% compared to the same period... Striving to ensure the rate of passenger trains departing on time, reaching 99%, arriving on time reaching 77%. The Corporation closely coordinates with the Ministry of Transport to develop a feasibility report for the North-South high-speed railway project, a pre-feasibility report for the Lao Cai- Hanoi -Hai Phong railway project and related contents to submit to competent authorities for appraisal and approval to ensure progress as required, complete the Corporation's Projects related to restructuring, human resource training, railway industry development to serve project implementation and take over management, operation and exploitation of railway routes in the coming time./.Vietnam.vn
