Dell Technologies and NVIDIA commissioned IDC to conduct a comprehensive analysis of AI trends in the Asia- Pacific (APAC) region through 2025 and provide strategic recommendations for driving AI success with technology partners. The results of the study are published in IDC’s InfoBrief, “Building Your AI Roadmap.”
According to the report, AI, GenAI, and ML are changing the face of industries across APAC, but many businesses are still facing issues such as a lack of suitable talent, complex integration processes, or aligning AI strategies with business goals.
Commissioned by Dell, IDC's InfoBrief highlights how businesses can close the gap, ensure smooth AI adoption, and maximize efficiency, innovation, and competitive advantage.
As AI adoption accelerates in the APAC region, businesses are taking a more strategic approach to integration, focusing on practical applications of GenAI to improve operational efficiency, drive productivity, and personalize customer experiences.
However, AI implementation also faces challenges when businesses do not have enough suitable personnel, especially in developed countries because the cost of recruiting AI experts is increasing.
Not only that, the success of AI initiatives depends largely on the availability, quality, and governance of data.
Addressing these factors thoroughly, combined with internal investment and collaboration with external partners, is the key to fully unlocking the potential of AI.
The report points out that AI and GenAI are driving business innovation. AI adoption in the region is on the rise, with the AI dedicated server market in the APAC region expected to reach $23.9 billion by 2025.
GenAI spending in APAC has also seen significant growth. By 2025, 84% of APAC enterprises plan to allocate between $1 million and $2 million to GenAI initiatives.
While businesses globally spend around 33% of their budgets on GenAI, in APAC, 38% of AI budgets are allocated to GenAI, compared to a combined 61% for predictive AI and interpretive AI.

While businesses see the huge potential of these technologies to enhance productivity and customer engagement, many still face challenges in aligning AI initiatives with strategic goals and integrating AI into existing workflows.
While 35% of businesses in the ASEAN region are in the early stages of implementing AI and ML, 21% said their capabilities have improved as adoption has expanded across multiple functional departments.
Challenges and considerations when scaling AI and GenAI: When scaling GenAI, businesses are concerned about IT costs, regulatory compliance risks, while still ensuring commitment to energy savings.
Skills gaps can delay digital transformation, slow product development, and impact output quality.
Over 72% of businesses in APAC emphasize that new hires need to have knowledge of data and AI to close the gap with AI-savvy talent.
In addition, security and privacy are still major concerns, requiring IT teams to improve their readiness for GenAI applications; while businesses expect solution providers to ensure AI system security, privacy, reliability, infrastructure modernization, and custom AI model development.
Despite the challenges, businesses still see GenAI as a worthy investment because it is the driving force behind more efficient operations, improved customer satisfaction, and the creation of new business models.
