What are young people thinking? How are young people affected by information on social networks? What can be done to increase their resistance to bad and toxic information? These are topics that are regularly discussed in the meetings of many youth theory clubs in Ho Chi Minh City.
Refute wrong views with practice
Recently, some districts in Ho Chi Minh City organized activities to celebrate the 20th anniversary of administrative division and the establishment of new districts. Public opinion, including some young people, has the view that this division only makes the apparatus cumbersome, to "divide seats". In Binh Chanh district, there is also the opinion that the development of this locality is self-developed, the district leaders and the political system have no role.
Faced with that reality, the 3rd quarter 2023 meeting of the Binh Chanh District Youth Theory Club focused on dissecting this false information. At the meeting, the students were divided into many groups, setting out the task of finding the cause, stating the current state of young people's thinking on the above issue; at the same time, focusing on finding arguments, points of view, and specific evidence to refute that point of view.
Mr. Nguyen Quang Tuan, Secretary of Binh Chanh District Youth Union, said that from the materials discussed by you, there are many ideas proposed for the Standing Committee of the District Youth Union to implement, such as applying practical applications to refute incorrect viewpoints. The District Youth Union has synthesized and used the results of socio -economic development in the context of the district having many difficulties along with rigorous reasoning to demonstrate and analyze the achievements that the entire political system and people of the district have overcome difficulties to move forward.
Along with that, the Union members and youths were mobilized to collect images and documents from the previous 20 years to incorporate into propaganda information, refuting the viewpoint of "denying the efforts of the whole system". The activities received the active participation of Union members and youths of the district, spreading the message of the District Union to young people.
Similarly, the activities of the Young Theory Club of Cu Chi District also closely follow reality. Deputy Secretary of the Cu Chi District Youth Union Nguyen Thi Dan Tam said that there was a time when some information appeared on social networks denying the achievements of the Vietnamese revolution. The Young Theory Club of Cu Chi District organized a meeting with the theme "Solidarity will definitely win", taking union members and youth to visit red addresses in the area.
Here, you have learned about the spirit of solidarity of all generations of our ancestors, "determination to die for the survival of the Fatherland", before officially discussing at the meeting. From there, you have been enriched with practical elements so that when analyzing, you have more arguments, proofs, and organize propaganda activities at the Youth Union base.
Sensitive to current issues
Commenting on the activities of the Young Theory Clubs at all levels in recent times, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union Phan Thi Thanh Phuong expressed her opinion that the activities of the Young Theory Club have made great improvements in terms of methods, with forms such as debates, dramatization, seminars, competitions; with the application of technology, attracting many union members and young people to participate. The topics of the activities are diverse, closely following the breath of life, associated with the process of forming the ideology, awareness, personality, ethics, cultural lifestyle of the young generation as well as current issues that young people are interested in.
In addition to the “hard” topics that were built from the beginning of the year, at each specific time and event, the activities of the Youth Theory Club at all levels also respond quickly to current issues. For example, when young people have thoughts and behaviors that are not standard, they proactively add activities to the content of the activities. From there, the Standing Committee of the City Youth Union has advised the organization of many activities to foster theoretical knowledge for union members and young people.
In fact, through the activities, the Young Theory Clubs have boldly discussed in depth the issues that young people are thinking about. However, the number of members and young people participating in the Young Theory Clubs is still limited; there is a lack of people to guide the content and participate in solving thorny issues. "We are all young people, our awareness and reasoning are only slightly different, so it is difficult to summarize the issues discussed in the activities to guide the members and young people of our grassroots union", a member of the Young Theory Club in the worker sector shared.
To improve this, the role of the Party Committee is very important. Secretary of the Binh Chanh District Youth Union Nguyen Quang Tuan said that the District Youth Union always receives support, encouragement and "orders" from the Standing Committee of the District Party Committee in grasping and orienting information for young people in the area. Thanks to the close attention of the Party Committee, the District Youth Union is given maximum conditions, most importantly the support, introduction, connection of experts and reporters to participate in discussions and orientation in the activities of the Young Theory Club.
According to Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union Phan Thi Thanh Phuong, the Youth Union hopes that Party committees at all levels will pay attention and support the Youth Union bases to better perform their roles; so that the theoretical issues raised at the Club's meetings can contribute to solving practical problems in localities and units.
To make the activities of the Young Theory Clubs more effective and practical, the Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union will assign the Young Theory Clubs of the City Youth Union to organize model activities to orient the Young Theory Clubs at the Youth Union bases, guide and provide a list of topics monthly and quarterly...
