The press develops proportionately, growing with the nation

On the evening of January 20, the announcement and awarding ceremony of the 9th National Press Award on Party Building (Golden Hammer and Sickle Award) - 2024 solemnly took place at Ho Guom Theater, Hanoi, on the occasion of the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3, 1930 - February 3, 2025).

The press affirms its pioneering role

The 9th Golden Hammer and Sickle Award 2024 is chaired by the Central Organizing Committee, in coordination with Nhan Dan Newspaper, Communist Magazine , Vietnam Television , and Vietnam Journalists Association.

Speaking at the award ceremony, General Secretary To Lam assessed that this year's entries were not only rich in content but also demonstrated meticulous investment and creativity in form, reflecting comprehensively and with a focus on key issues of Party building. Many entries boldly addressed major, complex, and urgent issues of the country, Party building, and the political system.

The General Secretary emphasized that the press has truly affirmed its pioneering role in promptly condemning negative acts and uncompromisingly fighting corruption, waste, wrong and hostile viewpoints. The press has also actively spread positive values, new models, good practices, and typical examples among cadres, Party members and the people.

Many works not only attract public attention but also contribute to suggesting and proposing practical solutions to help Party committees and authorities at all levels overcome difficulties and obstacles, promoting development. In particular, the press has done a good job of propagating and disseminating the Party's new policies and guidelines, arousing the spirit of innovation and social responsibility among all classes of people.

"These results are vivid evidence of the remarkable growth in thinking, skills and mettle of the Vietnamese press team. The works are not only the result of creative labor but also reflect the noble responsibility of revolutionary journalism in accompanying the Party and the nation on the path of development," the General Secretary commented.

Also according to General Secretary To Lam, in recent times, the press has done a very good job of propagating and widely disseminating the Party's major policies and orientations on the "New Era", on the revolution of streamlining the apparatus of the political system, on the efforts and determination to handle the "bottlenecks" that are hindering the country's development...

Through that, the Vietnamese revolutionary press has truly integrated itself into the flow of real life, clearly demonstrating its role in guiding ideology and accompanying the Party's great steps, spreading trust, responsibility, and development aspirations among all classes of people. These contributions are not only the results of creative labor but also evidence of the mettle, intelligence, and social responsibility of the press team in carrying out its historical mission.

Congratulating the authors and units that won the 9th Golden Hammer and Sickle Award, the General Secretary affirmed that the achievements of the "Golden Hammer and Sickle" Award are not only the pride of the Vietnamese revolutionary press but also confirm the great role of the press in the work of building and rectifying the Party and the political system. The award-winning works not only mark the personal mark of the journalists, but also reflect the sense of responsibility, consensus and joint efforts of the entire press team of the country with the common cause of the nation.

The General Secretary emphasized that the new era is opening up a bright future for the nation. The new era also sets new, higher requirements and tasks for revolutionary journalism, requiring the press to develop accordingly, grow together with the nation, and be worthy of professional, humane, and modern journalism. The public desires to have more and more truly excellent writers and journalistic works of stature, conveying the great changes of the Party and the nation, and having high political and ideological values.

According to the General Secretary, 2025 is a key year for us to be determined to successfully implement the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, the year to hold Party congresses at all levels towards the 14th National Party Congress, and also a year with many major holidays of the country and people.

We also celebrate the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day. The most important task in 2025 is to successfully complete the set targets and plans, creating the foundation and premise for a breakthrough in the next term.

In that context, the press writing about Party building needs to actively contribute to helping our Party become increasingly clean and strong, on par with its historical tasks and missions to lead the nation to development in the new era. The press must closely follow the political tasks and major issues of the Party and the country to focus on comprehensive, profound, effective, and focused propaganda.

According to Mr. Phan Thang An, Deputy Head of the Central Organizing Committee, Head of the Organizing Committee of the Golden Hammer and Sickle Award, the award's standing agency ( Party Building Magazine ) received 2,544 works, an increase of 328 works (14.8%) compared to 2023. Of which, there are 789 print works, 725 electronic works, 576 television works, 329 radio works and 125 photojournalism works.

The works participating in the 2024 Golden Hammer and Sickle Award in central and local press agencies continue to be rich in topics and genres and are present in all provinces and cities across the country. Central press agencies actively participated with many high-quality works. This year, the local press sector has many press agencies that have invested carefully, the quality of works is consistent and has made more obvious progress than in previous years.

Mr. Phan Thang An informed that a number of articles by General Secretary To Lam expressed the guiding ideology and strategic thinking for the Party to lead the country into a new era - the era of national growth, which has inspired many issues and topics for journalists to think about and create more works reflecting the new vision and spirit in the work of leadership, direction, and management of socio-economic development, ensuring national defense, security and foreign affairs, building the Party and the political system, and continuing to improve the Party's leadership and governing capacity.

137 works entered the final round

The Organizing Committee said it received 2,544 entries, an increase of 328 entries (14.8%) compared to 2023, of which 789 were printed, 725 were electronic, 576 were television, 329 were radio, and 125 were photojournalistic.

Among the 137 entries in the final round, the Final Round Council selected 6 A Prizes, 12 B Prizes, 18 C Prizes, 10 Special Prizes and 40 Encouragement Prizes.

List of A Prize winning works:

1. A series of reports on General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong - An exceptionally outstanding leader, a lifelong devotee of the country and the people by a group of authors from Vietnam Television .

2. Institutional innovation, a breakthrough creating the premise for the country to enter a new era by the Voice of Vietnam authors.

3. Digital transformation revolution to develop the country in the era of the Vietnamese nation's rise by a group of authors from Nhan Dan Newspaper.

4. The Party's thinking on developing the defense industry to meet the requirements of protecting the Fatherland in the new period by a group of authors of the National Defense Magazine.

5. Piloting party activities in apartment buildings and new urban areas: Affirming position in the face of the "urbanization storm" by the group of authors of the Hanoi Moi Newspaper .

6. Blocking the danger from backyard businesses by the group of authors of Vietnam Law Newspaper .
