(NLDO) - Ho Chi Minh City is urgently implementing tasks to soon issue regulations on management and support for individual rental housing for more than 1.6 million people.
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction has just sent an official dispatch to the Department of Justice requesting appraisal of the proposal and decision to issue regulations on management and support of individual houses currently for rent in the city.
According to the Department of Construction, the city has nearly 60,000 individual housing projects for rent, with more than 629,000 rooms.
According to local reports, there are nearly 1.61 million people living in rented accommodation in Ho Chi Minh City.
Specifically, according to the survey, for independent boarding houses or specialized individual houses for rent, there are more than 27,200 projects (mainly concentrated in Thu Duc City, Go Vap District, Binh Thanh, Binh Tan, Tan Phu, Tan Binh, Binh Chanh, Hoc Mon, Nha Be districts), with more than 278,300 rooms.
Binh Tan District has the lowest minimum average floor area at 4.42 m2/person.
There are more than 32,700 detached houses with rooms for rent or detached houses for rent in part (mainly concentrated in Binh Tan, 12, Go Vap, Tan Binh, Tan Phu, District 7, Thu Duc City, Cu Chi District), with more than 350,000 rooms.
Tan Phu District and District 8 have the lowest minimum average floor area, at 4.24 m2/person and 4.94 m2/person, respectively.
The issuance of regulations on management and support for individual rental housing is applied specifically to the specific conditions of Ho Chi Minh City, with nearly 1.61 million people renting. The regulations propose minimum criteria on fire prevention and fighting safety for existing rental housing.

According to the Department of Construction, the management content has 3 criteria, in which the average floor area of a room must not be less than 4 square meters per person. In addition, boarding houses must ensure minimum criteria on fire safety.
The minimum criteria for road width for fire fighting vehicles to perform their duties must ensure the provisions in Article 4 of Decision 101/2024 of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee on roads for fire fighting vehicles to perform their duties.
Regarding support, homeowners are guided, supported, and have access to preferential interest rate loans to renovate, upgrade, and supplement fire prevention and fighting equipment... to ensure the requirements of "minimum criteria" of this regulation or to convert business lines for cases that do not meet the requirements (if needed).
In addition, homeowners are allowed to participate in connecting the mobile app - Safe Accommodation, connecting business owners and tenants to stay when ensuring the "minimum criteria" of this regulation when implemented.
Tenants of residential houses are subject to unit prices and electricity and water standards for non-business purposes or to regulations on ceiling unit prices and electricity and water standards when they register to reside in individual houses for rent for residential purposes that meet the "minimum criteria" criteria.
