Bac Ninh: Estimated orange and grapefruit output reaches 76 thousand tons

BAC NINH - According to the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection (Department of Agriculture and Environment), at this time, orange and grapefruit trees are in the fruit development stage, with an estimated total output of 76 thousand tons; the peak harvest season is expected to start in October 2025 and last until the end of February next year.

Accordingly, the whole province has about 2,714 hectares of oranges, with an estimated output of 28 thousand tons. Of which, 1,700 hectares are oranges produced according to VietGAP standards.

Grapefruit trees cover an area of ​​about 5,400 hectares, with an estimated output of 48,000 tons. Of which, 3,600 hectares are produced according to VietGAP standards; 10 hectares are produced according to organic standards. Currently, orange and grapefruit trees are in the fruit development stage, with the expected peak harvest time from October 2025 to February 2026.

To consume citrus trees, the province has built 26 growing area codes for export to markets in countries such as Russia, New Zealand, the United States, and South Korea with an area of ​​nearly 300 hectares concentrated in the communes and wards of Chu, Luc Ngan, Phuong Son, Nam Duong, and Tan Son...

In recent years, the provincial Department of Agriculture has guided local farmers to diversify their citrus crop structure. Thanks to this, the whole province has dozens of varieties of oranges and grapefruits planted in alternating seasons, providing high productivity and quality, extending the fruit harvest period.

In addition, many gardeners and cooperatives such as Thanh Hai Agricultural Cooperative, Hong Xuan Agricultural Production and General Service Cooperative, etc. have actively promoted members and households to join in organic citrus production and food safety to supply the market. Because they are cultivated according to standards, oranges and grapefruits have good quality, beautiful appearance, and the output is constantly increasing.

The commune authorities create favorable conditions for enterprises and cooperatives to cooperate with production households to promote and introduce products and organize experiential tourism programs. Establish tourism service groups to take groups of tourists to visit beautiful orange and grapefruit gardens. Localities coordinate with the Department of Industry and Trade to advertise and sell orange and grapefruit products on a number of e-commerce platforms, fairs and exhibitions inside and outside the province.
