Storm No. 9 Ragasa weakens into a tropical depression

(NLDO)- At 10:00 a.m. this morning, September 25, storm No. 9 Ragasa weakened into a tropical depression, about 40 km east of Mong Cai (Quang Ninh).

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, early this morning, September 25, the center of storm number 9 Ragasa entered the northern part of the Gulf of Tonkin. When entering the northern part of the Gulf of Tonkin, storm number 9 only had strong winds of level 9, gusting to level 11.

On land, from early morning on September 25, coastal areas from Quang Ninh to Hung Yen gradually increased wind to level 8-9, gusting to level 11. The main areas affected by storm No. 9 were Quang Ninh and Hai Phong .

From the night of September 24, it will start to rain in the provinces of Quang Ninh, Lang Son, and Hai Phong. In the Northern Delta, including Hanoi, from noon on September 25, the rain will increase. The total rainfall is forecast to be 100-250 mm, with some places over 400 mm. In particular, the eastern slopes of the Hoang Lien Son range (old Lao Cai and Yen Bai ) will have heavy to very heavy rain. The meteorological agency warns of the risk of urban flooding; the risk of flooding, flash floods on small rivers and streams, and landslides in mountainous areas.

To respond to storm No. 9, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh issued Official Dispatch No. 171, directing the implementation of measures to respond to storm No. 9 with the most drastic spirit, proactively responding at the highest level, anticipating the worst scenario, not being passive or surprised, putting the goal of ensuring people's safety above all else.

The Prime Minister requested the Ministers of the Ministries of National Defense, Public Security, Agriculture and Environment, Construction, Industry and Trade, Science and Technology, Education and Training, and Health; and Chairmen of People's Committees of provinces and cities from Quang Ngai and above to continue to seriously and resolutely implement the Prime Minister's direction in Official Dispatch No. 170 dated September 22; not to be negligent or subjective, to organize monitoring, updating, and grasping the situation, proactively and promptly directing and deploying measures to respond to storm No. 9 according to their functions, tasks, and authority with the most determined spirit, proactively responding at the highest level, anticipating the worst scenario, not being passive or surprised, putting the goal of ensuring people's safety above all and first. Be responsible before the Government and the Prime Minister if there is a lack of responsibility in advising, leading, and directing, causing damage to people's lives and property.
