In Bang Ca commune (Ha Long city), one of the traditional cultural features that is still preserved today is the art of brocade embroidery, demonstrating the ingenuity and talent of the women of the Dao Thanh Y ethnic group.

Learning embroidery since the age of 12, Mrs. Ly Thi Mai in Bang Ca commune has been involved in brocade embroidery for more than 60 years. She shared: I have been passionate about embroidery since I was a child, it seems that every needle and thread has been in my blood without me knowing. Although I am old and my eyesight is poor, I still want to teach this profession to people, especially children. During the summer vacation, the commune often organizes embroidery classes for children. Many children learn very quickly and can skillfully embroider simple products. Seeing the children's passion, I want to teach them even more, to preserve the traditional culture of my people.

In recent times, Bang Ca commune has included education and promotion of the traditional cultural values of the Dao Thanh Y ethnic group in the resolutions and plans of the commune. Classes teaching brocade embroidery, folk songs and dances... have been opened for students and young people. The teachers are all famous artisans. At village festivals and community activities, wearing traditional costumes is required, even compulsory. At the same time, the commune also encourages many couples to pay attention to wearing costumes at weddings.

Preserving and maintaining traditional cultural features, Van Don district is also one of the localities with many innovative and creative ways to preserve and promote intangible cultural values of the nation. The district has built a communal Cultural and Sports Center combined with San Diu Traditional House in Vong Tre village, Binh Dan commune with an area of nearly 800m2, to implement the "Pilot project to build, preserve and promote the cultural identity values of 4 ethnic minority villages associated with community tourism development in mountainous areas of Quang Ninh province, period 2023-2025". Thereby, it has contributed to helping the San Diu people in the area promote and preserve their ethnic identity, while maintaining the development of ethnic minority villages such as: Preserving the soong co melodies, folk games, folk literature and language, writing, traditional crafts, the cap sac ceremony, the hanh quang dance, folk songs, folk dances, Dai phan festival...

From there, it also attracts tourists to learn and explore the lifestyle of the San Diu ethnic people, creating momentum for the commune to develop community tourism associated with the task of developing the local socio-economic development.

To restore, preserve and promote traditional cultural values, on May 10, 2024, the Provincial People's Committee issued Plan No. 125/KH-UBND on implementing the Project "Preserving and promoting fine traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities associated with tourism development" under the National Target Program on Socio-Economic Development of Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Areas for the period 2021-2030, Phase I from 2021-2025 (implemented in 2024-2025).
