Arrest of subject "bragging" about having many acquaintances to cheat and get a sentence in Gia Lai

By providing false information about having many relationships at judicial agencies in Gia Lai province to cheat people out of a case, Nguyen Duc Toan appropriated 150 million VND from a citizen.

On October 24, the Investigation Police Agency of Gia Lai Province Police issued an order to temporarily detain Nguyen Duc Toan (48 years old, residing in Ia Kring Ward, Pleiku City, Gia Lai Province) to investigate the act of "Fraudulent appropriation of property".

According to the initial investigation, Toan is a member of the self-management team at Pleiku City night market. In January 2022, Toan provided false information about having many relationships at judicial agencies in Gia Lai province, which could help criminals get lighter sentences.

Believing that the information Toan said was true, Mr. TVC (residing in Dak Doa district, Gia Lai province) gave Toan 150 million VND to help him run the case. After receiving the money, Toan did not do as promised but instead appropriated it for personal use. Afterwards, Mr. C. filed a complaint with the police.

The Criminal Police Department of Gia Lai Province Police announced that any victim related to the defendant Nguyen Duc Toan should contact the Gia Lai Province Police for guidance and resolution in accordance with the law./.
