Arrest of operator of huge gambling ring wanted by Interpol

The Immigration Department of Da Nang City Police has just coordinated with the Foreign Affairs Department of the Ministry of Public Security to hand over Im Ju Seob (53 years old, Korean nationality) to Korean authorities for extradition to the country and handling according to local law.

Im Ju Seob is a subject wanted by Interpol for operating an illegal gambling website and has just been arrested by Da Nang City Police.

Since mid-February 2024, the Immigration Department of Da Nang City Police discovered that Im Ju Seob had an international arrest warrant and was hiding in the area.

Before arriving in Da Nang, this subject entered Vietnam through Tan Son Nhat International Airport and hid for a while in Ho Chi Minh City. Through professional measures, Da Nang City Police discovered Im Ju Seob hiding at a hotel in Ngu Hanh Son District, so they organized forces to monitor him.

On February 25, the police arrested Im Ju Seob. At the police station, the subject admitted that he was being investigated by Korean authorities for operating an illegal gambling website with a server in the Philippines. This line operated from early 2017 to late 2019 when it was discovered. Im Ju Seob then fled and was issued a red notice by Interpool.

It is known that this website has attracted a large number of players, placing bets and withdrawing money through many bank accounts with a total online betting amount of up to 44 billion Won, equivalent to 822 billion VND.

This subject has been handed over to Korean authorities in accordance with regulations.
