Arrested suspect of breaking windows of many cars to steal property

On the afternoon of June 22, Ha Dong District Police (Hanoi) announced that they had just arrested Thai Van Quang (24 years old, from Tien Hai District, Thai Binh ; temporarily residing in Thanh Tri District, Hanoi) to clarify the acts of property destruction and theft.

Suspect Thai Van Quang confessed to breaking the windows of many cars to steal property.

According to the initial investigation results, Quang had a conflict with his wife so he left home to wander around Hanoi , then applied for a job at a charity restaurant in Tan Trieu commune (Thanh Tri district) and was given food and accommodation by the restaurant owner.

Not having enough money to spend, Quang came up with the idea of ​​stealing property, targeting cars parked overnight in residential areas, without anyone watching.

After ordering a glass breaker and gloves, at around 8:00 p.m. on June 16, Quang left the restaurant to play video games and at around 11:30 p.m. the same day, he started taking his "tools" to go stealing.

At around 0:00 on June 17, Quang walked to the CT8 apartment complex in Van Quan Urban Area (Van Quan Ward, Ha Dong District) and saw two unattended cars. He broke the window of one car but could not take anything. When he broke the window of the second car, the car alarm sounded, and Quang ran away.

Running to the area behind Ha Dong Stadium (Nguyen Trai Ward, Ha Dong District), Quang broke the windows of 2 cars but could not take any property, so Quang continued to return to Van Quan Ward to find the car to break the windows.

Police were present to investigate the incident.

At 19/5 Street (Van Quan Ward), Quang broke the window of a red car and stole 3 2 USD bills and a set of wireless headphones.

At CT8 apartment complex in Van Quan Urban Area, Quang continued to break the windows of 6 more cars, but Quang said he only took 1 spare charger, 1 bottle of hair wax and some small change.

According to Ha Dong District Police, this agency is clarifying the case of one of the vehicle owners reporting the loss of 18 million VND left in the car, and is completing the documents to handle Quang according to regulations.
