According to Tuoi Tre reporter's source , Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen asked to withdraw from the Vietnam women's volleyball team on the morning of August 19. The reason for her decision was "family reasons".

Bich Tuyen withdrew just 1 day before the whole team moved to Thailand to prepare to participate in the 2025 Women's Volleyball World Championship.

Due to the tight schedule, the coaching staff has also finalized the list of players to leave. The Vietnamese women's volleyball team only brought 13 players. Among them, there is only one opposing player, Hoang Thi Kieu Trinh.

Bich Tuyen's absence will cause a lot of difficulties for the whole team. In the past 2 years, she has been the team's main and important scorer.

In difficult matches, Bich Tuyen always shines to bring home important points.

In the recent match against Thailand in the second round of SEA V.League, the 2000-born setter alone scored 45 points, helping the Vietnamese women's volleyball team win the historic championship.

Official information from the Vietnam Volleyball Federation (VFV) said: "In this world championship, the team will not have the service of athlete Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen. For personal reasons, athlete Bich Tuyen has wished not to participate in this competition.

The Vietnam Volleyball Federation and the coaching staff respect the athlete's decision. We affirm that Bich Tuyen will always be an important member and always welcome her return to contribute to the national team in the future when she is ready."

This is the first time the Vietnamese women's volleyball team has competed on the world stage. It is an opportunity to compete with major volleyball teams, thereby accumulating experience and developing expertise in preparation for the biggest goal of the year, the 33rd SEA Games.

Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet's team is in Group G with Poland (ranked 3rd in the world), Germany (ranked 11th in the world) and Kenya (ranked 22nd in the world). According to the schedule, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team will play Poland (August 23), then Germany (August 25), Kenya (August 27).

The 2025 Women's Volleyball World Cup will feature 32 teams, divided into eight groups. The teams will compete in a round robin to determine the top two teams from each group to advance to the round of 16.
