This time the crowd was larger and they were more excited because the England women's team had proven their mettle by successfully defending their European Championship title thanks to the efforts of excellent strikers such as Chloe Kelly, Michelle Agyemang and goalkeeper Hannah Hampton.
Kelly created the opportunity for striker Alessia Russo to score the equaliser in the final against Spain. And it was she who scored the decisive penalty in the shootout to give England victory.
Goalkeeper Hampton saved two penalties. Agyemang, only 19 years old, scored two goals in the quarter-final and semi-final matches, helping England women's team reach the final.

The welcome ceremony for the champions was held from 12pm to 1pm, so some people took their lunch break to celebrate with the team. The England women's team travelled on two open-top buses along the avenue in front of Buckingham Palace. Afterwards, the team lifted the trophy and interacted with fans on a stage in front of the palace.
The England women's successful defence of the European Championship represents a level of success that English men's football has not achieved in many years. It is also a turning point in the significant increase in the number of female football fans in the UK.
The final between the England and Spain women's team had a viewership in the UK of over 16 million - the largest number for a television event so far this year.
