Turning the sidewalk into a "home yard" on the central street of Duc Tho town

The sidewalk of Yen Trung Street in Duc Tho Town (Duc Tho District, Ha Tinh) has long been turned into a “home ground” for some businesses to display and sell their products. Photos and videos were recorded by readers on July 18 and reported to Ha Tinh Newspaper.

Yen Trung Street is nearly 2 km long, connecting from Ba Vien intersection to La Giang Street. This is the central road of Duc Tho town, with hundreds of businesses selling all kinds of products.

Instead of displaying goods in the premises of their business establishments, many shop owners blatantly "requisition" the sidewalk on Yen Trung Street to display all kinds of goods. In the photo: The sidewalk in front of Duc Tho District People's Committee is "requisitioned" as a motorbike gathering point.

According to observations, along Yen Trung street there are dozens of businesses and trading establishments encroaching on the sidewalks. Many establishments even occupy the sidewalks, leaving no space for pedestrians to pass.

All kinds of goods are sold on the sidewalk such as: motorbikes, electric bicycles, children's toys, household appliances...

Mr. NHB - a resident of Duc Tho town, was upset: "The situation of occupying the sidewalk to display commercial goods on Yen Trung street has been going on for a long time. People are upset because it affects traffic, especially the pedestrian section. The town government has taken action many times to rectify the situation, but everything is back to the same."

The occupation of roads and sidewalks for trading purposes not only spoils the urban beauty but is also one of the causes of traffic congestion and creates many risks of road traffic accidents.
