The Ministry of Industry and Trade actively implements the Prime Minister's Strategy for Development of Vietnam's Chemical Industry to 2030, with a vision to 2040.

In 2022, the Prime Minister approved Decision No. 726/QD-TTg on the Strategy for the development of Vietnam's chemical industry to 2030, with a vision to 2040. On that basis, on May 16, 2024, the Ministry of Industry and Trade issued Decision No. 1189/QD-BCT on the Plan of the Ministry of Industry and Trade to implement the Strategy for the development of Vietnam's chemical industry to 2030, with a vision to 2040.

The purpose of the action plan is to organize the implementation of tasks and solutions identified in the Chemical Industry Development Strategy related to the functions and tasks of the Ministry of Industry and Trade to achieve the goals according to the viewpoints and orientations of the Chemical Industry Development Strategy approved by the Prime Minister.

The action plan is the basis for units under the Ministry of Industry and Trade to develop and advise on adjusting strategies, plans, and action programs according to their functions and tasks to direct, organize, and coordinate the implementation of specific tasks of their units in accordance with the Chemical Industry Development Strategy.

The action plan is the basis for organizing inspection, supervision, preliminary review, final review, evaluation and experience drawing on the implementation of the Chemical Industry Development Strategy; at the same time, it is the basis for coordinating with relevant agencies to propose and submit to the Prime Minister for consideration to adjust the objectives and contents of the Chemical Industry Development Strategy if necessary.

In order to implement the above plan, in recent times, units under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, based on their functions and tasks, have actively implemented the Strategy, specifically: the Department of Industrial Safety and Environment Techniques, the Department of Science and Technology have paid attention to supporting and promoting tasks related to the development of standards, product standards, and safety for the chemical industry.
