The State Department informs about the search and accounting activities for US soldiers missing in action during the war in Vietnam.

On August 2, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang responded to a reporter's question asking for Vietnam's reaction to information in the report of the National Federation of Families of Prisoners of War and Missing Persons in Southeast Asia on humanitarian cooperation activities to search for and account for US soldiers missing in action in the Vietnam War (MIA).

Accordingly, Spokesperson of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pham Thu Hang stated: "This is distorted and untrue information and we resolutely oppose it.

Humanitarian cooperation activities to search for and account for US soldiers missing in action in the Vietnam War (MIA) have been actively and effectively implemented by the governments of Vietnam and the United States for over 50 years, helping thousands of US soldiers' remains to be identified and returned to their families.

This is a very meaningful result, contributing to promoting cooperation in overcoming the consequences of war between the two countries and is a vivid demonstration of the humanitarian spirit, contributing to building and strengthening trust and friendship between Vietnam and the United States. The effectiveness of Vietnam's MIA cooperation has always been recognized and highly appreciated by the United States, considered a model in international relations.

In the coming time, the two countries will continue to fully cooperate in this field in accordance with the spirit of the Joint Statement on upgrading Vietnam-US relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership for peace, cooperation and sustainable development."
