On the morning of July 1, within the framework of his official visit to Korea, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended the Vietnam - Korea business forum.
The forum was attended by about 350 Korean enterprises and 180 enterprises and representatives of Vietnamese ministries and sectors.
Promote the establishment of resource supply centers
Speaking at the opening of the forum, Chairman of the Korea-Vietnam Economic Cooperation Committee Cho Hyun-sang said: “In early June, I got to watch a great football match in which the Vietnamese team, under the leadership of coach Kim Sang Sik, came from behind to beat the Philippines. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh personally went to the stadium to cheer for the players.”
From this story, Mr. Cho Hyun-sang raised the question: Why can't businessmen of the two countries have such great games based on the foundation of close cooperation between the two countries in recent times?
According to Mr. Cho Hyun-sang, Korea and Vietnam have established an inseparable economic partnership, especially since the two countries established a comprehensive strategic partnership. The two sides need to think about cooperation in the next 30 years, especially in the current volatile world context.
South Korean Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Ahn Dukgeun cited Uncle Ho's philosophy of "adapting to the unchangeable and adapting to the ever-changing" to talk about cooperation between Vietnam and South Korea.
“After 30 years of establishing diplomatic relations, compared to human age, the 30-year-olds dare to face new challenges. This is the time to discuss the direction of cooperation between the two countries for the next 30 years to promote trade and investment cooperation with a two-way turnover of 150 billion USD,” said Minister Ahn Dukgeun.
He said that the two sides are currently considering plans to expand trade and investment to increase two-way turnover to 100 billion USD by 2025.
The two sides wish to expand investment cooperation in the fields of infrastructure and energy. This year, 22 memorandums of understanding will be signed, which will be the basis for expanding trade and investment between the two countries.
"Vietnam has the richest resources, especially rare earth, and Korea has an advantage in technology, so the potential for mutual support is huge," he suggested that the two sides promote the establishment of a resource supply center between the two countries next year.
The Minister also said that Vietnam is the first country with which Korea has signed a memorandum of understanding on energy. Korea can share its experience in operating nuclear power plants to provide stable and advanced electricity to Vietnam.
He expressed his appreciation for Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's saying "work together, win together and enjoy together" as the message sent to Korean and Vietnamese businesses today.
30 years old is very energetic
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh also agreed with the Korean Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy that "the age of 30 is very energetic", it is the age of maturity and needs to have a strong shape for the future.
The Prime Minister pledged that Korean enterprises investing and doing business in Vietnam will always be guaranteed political stability and safety. Vietnam will create a favorable, equal, healthy and fair investment and business environment for its partners.
The head of the Vietnamese government said that in the coming time, the two countries need to promote technology transfer, especially modern and advanced technology. In addition, Korea can support Vietnam in participating in the global supply chain, smart governance...
The Prime Minister encouraged Korean businesses to invest in emerging and important fields such as: digital economy, green economy, circular economy, knowledge economy, and sharing economy. Because the room for cooperation in these fields is huge, especially in industries such as semiconductor chips, artificial intelligence, hydrogen, cultural and entertainment industries.
“Let us open up new horizons of cooperation to create value for businesses, in the spirit of listening and understanding; sharing vision, awareness and action; working together, enjoying together, winning together and developing together,” Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized.
Accordingly, Vietnam and Korea can jointly exploit and create new values under the conditions that the two countries have different potentials, outstanding opportunities, and competitive advantages.
This will bring about strong and prosperous development for the two countries in the spirit of "turning nothing into something, turning the impossible into possible, turning difficult into easy".
