A springboard for tourism to become a key economic sector

In the first 6 months of 2024, Quang Ninh tourism grew strongly in both the number of visitors and revenue. Tourism products were constantly innovated, service quality was improved, tourism space was expanded; promotion and advertising activities were strengthened along with efforts to ensure the tourism business environment, helping Quang Ninh continue to be a key tourism destination in the North and the whole country.

In the first 6 months of 2024, the number of tourists to Quang Ninh increased sharply.

Since the beginning of the year, tourist destinations and services in the province have welcomed a high number of visitors and experiences compared to the same period in 2023. The total number of tourists reached over 10.4 million, an increase of nearly 20% over the same period in 2023. Total tourism revenue was over VND 22,200 billion, an increase of over 30% over the same period. In particular, international visitors grew impressively with about 2 million, an increase of nearly 2.5 times over the same period in 2023, reaching over 60% of the yearly plan. The 10 major international tourist markets to Quang Ninh include: China, South Korea, Taiwan, the US, India, France, Australia, the UK, Germany, and Japan.

The province has proactively innovated products, improved service quality, strengthened the tourism business environment, and at the same time promoted and promoted tourism, stimulated demand, and strongly attracted tourists. Localities in the province have cultural, artistic, and sports activities to attract tourists throughout the year. During holidays such as Lunar New Year, April 30 - May 1, dozens of special events such as: Ha Long Carnival 2024, Beer and Squid Festival, Kite Festival, Lion and Dragon Festival, and summer programs have been organized in the province, effectively stimulating tourism demand.

According to the plan, this year, Quang Ninh will build and exploit 62 new tourism products. To date, 23 products have been put into operation; the remaining products are being completed by localities and units in the coming time. New, high-quality tourism products, exploiting the province's unique advantages, are one of the important factors to increase the competitiveness and attractiveness of Quang Ninh tourism. A typical example is the Grand Pioneers brand cruise ship pair with "Heritage Journey" taking tourists to pristine, separate areas that have never been exploited for tourism, connecting Ha Long Bay and Bai Tu Long Bay. New high-end island resort products on the shores of Bai Tu Long Bay, making Van Don emerge as an attractive destination in this year's summer tourist season, such as Wyndham Garden Sonasea Van Don resort, Angsana Quan Lan resort, Ha Long Bay. Night tourism products have also begun to show their effectiveness, such as the night cruise street, the Lighthouse entertainment complex, singing in the middle of wonders, and most recently, the commercial street following the model of a night entertainment market by the sea - VuiFest Ha Long.

Tourism promotion and advertising activities have been enhanced based on taking advantage of opportunities from digital transformation, promoting on social networking platforms to increase awareness and widely spread the image of Quang Ninh tourism. The website amazinghalong.vn and the tiktok channel Food Tour Quang Ninh have just been launched with integrated digital tourism map technology and virtual reality images to help tourists find detailed information and images, optimize their travel schedules in Quang Ninh, promising to bring tourists another effective support tool in their journey to explore Quang Ninh.

In addition to efforts to promote the growth of tourist numbers, the tourism industry coordinates with relevant authorities to promptly detect, rectify and strictly handle violations of the law in tourism business, ensuring service quality and the tourism business environment, especially in tourist accommodation, travel and tour guiding services.

The tourism industry continues to effectively implement activities and contents to stimulate tourism, develop tourism products; organize cultural, sports and tourism events and activities; accelerate the development and launch of new tourism products, and improve the quality of existing products. At the same time, strengthen inspection of the work of ensuring the tourism environment, maintaining security and order, food safety and hygiene, and destination safety; and ensure the rights of tourists.

At the end of 6 months, Quang Ninh was among the leading groups in the country in terms of tourism development indicators. With positive growth momentum, the province's annual target of welcoming 17 million tourists is completely feasible. Appreciating the important contribution of Quang Ninh tourism to the development of Vietnam tourism, Mr. Ha Van Sieu, Deputy Director of the National Tourism Administration, commented: Quang Ninh is one of the bright spots of tourism in the country in terms of recovery and growth rate. The image of Quang Ninh tourism is always innovative from infrastructure, to products, experiences and promotion work. This affirms the correct orientation and long-term vision of the leaders of Quang Ninh province in the goal of developing tourism into a spearhead economic sector.
