A great step forward for the smokeless industry

The achievements of Ninh Binh tourism industry after 10 years of implementing the direction and orientation of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong "Ninh Binh needs to focus on developing tourism and services according to its potential strengths. This is the direction of industrialization of Ninh Binh" is the sentiment and deep gratitude of the Party Committee, government and people of Ninh Binh province to the General Secretary.

During his visit and working session with the Party Committee, government and people of Ninh Binh province on January 20, 2014 on the implementation of the Resolution of the 11th Party Congress and the tasks of socio -economic development and Party building, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong assessed: Ninh Binh has both plains, mountains and coastal areas, with full conditions for developing agriculture , services and industry. The province has advantages for developing tourism such as: Trang An - Bai Dinh tourist area, Hoa Lu ancient capital, Phat Diem stone church, hot springs, Cuc Phuong forest. Ninh Binh must become a destination for domestic and international tourists... Therefore, in the economic development strategy, the province needs to focus on developing tourism and services according to its potential and strengths. The General Secretary emphasized that tourism is a smokeless industry. This is the direction of industrialization of Ninh Binh. It should not be understood that building new factories is industrialization.

Taking note of the directions and orientations of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong on the key tasks in economic development in general and tourism development in particular, in 2014, Ninh Binh province made efforts to successfully protect the Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex to become a World Cultural and Natural Heritage. This is the first mixed heritage of Vietnam and Southeast Asia up to the present time. Since Trang An became a world heritage, it has created a new position and strength for Ninh Binh tourism to break through.

Since being honored, Trang An has truly played the role of a nucleus, a center promoting tourism development in the province, affirming the position of Ninh Binh tourism in the domestic and international tourism market.

At the time when Trang An was not yet recognized as a world heritage site, Ninh Binh only welcomed over 1 million visitors/year. In 2023, the whole province welcomed over 6.5 million visitors, with tourism revenue reaching over 6,500 billion VND. In 2024, Ninh Binh tourism industry aims to welcome 7.5 million visitors, of which 6.6 million are domestic visitors and 900,000 are international visitors; striving to achieve revenue of over 8,200 billion VND.

The above statistics show that Trang An World Cultural and Natural Heritage has great potential in contributing to promoting sustainable local economic development, poverty reduction and improving sustainable livelihoods of local communities. The economic efficiency of Ninh Binh heritage sites today is mostly through tourism activities and services for visitors and researchers.

Trang An is not only a tourist destination but also a source of inspiration and opportunity for the development of cultural industries, from cultural tourism to cuisine and cinema... The harmony between nature, culture and history here creates a diverse and rich environment for exploration and experience. Along with that, Trang An is a magnet attracting investment from many businesses in the field of tourism development with capital up to thousands of billions of VND at some major tourist destinations such as: Trang An Eco-tourism Area, Tam Coc - Bich Dong Tourist Area, Thach Bich - Thung Nang Tourist Route, Bich Dong - Hang But Tourist Route, Chim Garden - Thung Nham Eco-tourism Area, Thien Ha Cave Tourist Site, Hang Mua Tourist Area, Bai Dinh Mountain Pagoda Spiritual Tourism Area.

Thus, with the advantage of being a land with diverse, rich and extremely attractive resources and terrain on the background of unique landscapes and a long history of human culture as well as the history of Vietnamese culture, a culture of the Capital - the City that continues and resonates to this day, Ninh Binh has strongly entered the "smokeless industry". In the national tourism planning, Ninh Binh is rated in a high position, the "quadrilateral" of the Red River Delta and is one of the top destinations in Vietnam.

Ninh Binh tourism has become a bright spot on the Vietnamese tourism map, ranked among the top 15 destinations, 10 provinces with the highest number of visitors in the country, and has been evaluated and voted as the most attractive, hospitable and favorite tourist destination by many prestigious domestic and international travel sites. Most recently, at the Traveller Review Awards 2023 organized by Booking.com - a booking application present in 228 countries and territories, Ninh Binh was the only representative in Asia to be listed in the list of 10 friendliest destinations in the world; US Forbes magazine voted Ninh Binh as one of the 23 best tourist destinations in 2023; Cuc Phuong National Park was honored as "Asia's Leading National Park" for 5 consecutive years...

Building on the success of the past 10 years, entering a new period, Ninh Binh continues to determine to become a tourism center of the region and the whole country, aiming to make tourism a spearhead economic sector. The target by 2025 is that total tourism revenue will reach over 8,000 billion VND, contributing about 6.5% of the province's GRDP. By 2030, total tourism revenue will reach 18,660 billion VND, contributing about 8% of the province's GRDP.

Along with that, Ninh Binh is gradually implementing the Ninh Binh Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050. approved by the Prime Minister. Continue to adhere to the goals of socio-economic development in the direction of "Green, sustainable and harmonious"; develop the economy in parallel with equity and social progress on the basis of maximizing the outstanding potential, unique values and unique advantages of the locality, the core of which is to preserve and promote the values of cultural and historical heritage, fine traditions of the people, the land of the Ancient Capital and the outstanding global values of the Trang An Landscape Complex as the foundation, resources and driving force for development, to become a national and international cultural, historical and tourist center; develop urban and rural areas in a civilized and modern direction, focusing on "Millennium Heritage Urban Area".

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong - an excellent student of President Ho Chi Minh, devoted his whole life to the country and the people. The General Secretary has passed away forever, but the Party Committee, Government and People of Ninh Binh province will always keep in mind the teachings, orientations and directions of the General Secretary, strive to compete and successfully implement the goals and tasks of socio-economic development, contributing to the construction of the homeland and the country... Striving to achieve the goal by 2035, Ninh Binh will become a centrally-run city with the characteristics of a Millennium Heritage City, a creative city. A large center with high brand value in tourism, cultural industry, heritage economy of the whole country and the Asia - Pacific region.
