TPO - After the drum beat of the Giang River fishing competition organizing committee, the teams brought fishing gear and nets to jump into the river to compete in catching fish. Each team tried to catch as many fish as possible to win the competition.

On April 14, Mon Son commune (Con Cuong district, Nghe An ) organized a fishing competition on Giang river. This is one of the activities within the framework of the Mon Son - Luc Da Festival 2024, which is held annually.

It is known that this is the second year Mon Son commune has organized the Fishing Competition on Giang River with the aim of creating a vibrant and joyful atmosphere, connecting the spirit of solidarity between villages and hamlets; helping people to be aware of protecting aquatic resources by fishing methods that cause less harm to the natural environment.

This year's competition has 12 teams with 84 members from 12 villages in Mon Son commune. In addition to male members, the teams also have female members to support. According to the regulations of the Organizing Committee, participants in the fishing festival are only allowed to use traditional fishing tools such as: fishing nets, scoops, traps, and nets. The teams are prepared with small boats and diving goggles to serve the fishing.

The fishing location is Giang River right at the foot of Pha Lai Dam (Mon Son Commune). The teams are allowed to fish on a nearly 1km long section of the river. Previously, this section of the river was banned from fishing in any form to preserve aquatic resources. (Photo: DTSG).

In the first part, 12 teams will compete in catching fish. The team that caught the most fish and the biggest fish will win. After the teams finished competing, people were allowed to bring fishing nets, nets, and traps to the Giang River to catch fish.

In addition to the competing teams, there were thousands of people on the shore watching the competition and waiting their turn to go down to the river to join in fishing.

The teams use many ways to catch fish such as: standing on a boat casting a net or swimming, diving in the river to cast a net, catching fish...

The contest took place in an exciting atmosphere and attracted many people to participate.

After many hours of diving and fishing in the river, the teams all caught very large fish.

After more than 2 hours of fishing competition, the teams brought the fish to the Organizing Committee area to be weighed. As a result, the Bac Son team won first prize when they caught more than 17 kg of fish. The two teams Tan Son and Lang Yen caught 14-15 kg and won second and third prizes. After finishing, the fish will be divided among their team members to use as food.

When the teams finished competing, people were free to go down to the river to catch fish using fishing tools such as nets, traps, etc.
