The Department of Information Security ( Ministry of Information and Communications ) has just issued a warning last week, Hanoi City Police has just received a report from Ms. V. (born in 1974, residing in Nam Tu Liem, Hanoi) about being scammed of 2.3 billion VND after joining the group "Tien tri thoi dai" and investing in virtual currency through the Bitforex.com exchange.

Fraudulent financial investment and virtual currency investment on the internet still occurs.

For the above trick, the subjects often set up fake or unlicensed stock exchanges and virtual currency investment platforms. The subjects even pretend to be financial experts, stock specialists or representatives of reputable brokerage companies. Next, the subjects invite victims to investment groups on social networks (Facebook, Telegram, Zalo...) and invite victims to join the platform they created. Initially, the subjects advertise their trading platform with the promise of high interest rates, even providing fake evidence of profits from previous investors. After attracting a large number of investors and receiving money, the virtual trading platform will close or disappear, causing investors to lose all the money they invested.

In fact, the activities of attracting and "herding chickens" to join financial investment groups online continue to take place despite many warnings from the media and state management agencies. Ms. Kim Loan (District 7, Ho Chi Minh City) said that she always receives many calls inviting her to join stock and currency investment consulting groups with super-profit rates. Not to mention that every few days on Zalo or Telegram, she will be automatically added to these groups, forcing her to always delete and leave the groups. "Being automatically added to groups is annoying and tiring enough when a series of messages keep popping up on the phone. Many people who are curious will easily be lured and enticed with tricks and words promoting high profits from participants, most of whom are virtual," she said.

Faced with the above fraud, the Information Security Department recommends that people absolutely do not participate in investing, buying and selling on virtual currency exchanges, digital currencies, websites or virtual currency investment applications. Before participating in any exchange, people need to check the operating license and information about the exchange. Only trade on exchanges licensed by the authorities. Do not share personal information with anyone in any form. Do not download applications of unknown origin or click on strange links.
