(Dan Tri) - Circular 30 of the Ministry of Education and Training regulates how to calculate admission scores to grade 10 from 2025.
The Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) has just issued a Circular on regulations on junior high school and high school enrollment.
In addition to finalizing the plan for entering grade 10 with 3 exam subjects including math, literature and a third subject, the Ministry also stipulates specific regulations on calculating admission scores.
Accordingly, the admission score to grade 10 of high school is the total score of the subjects and exams calculated on a 10-point scale for each subject and exam.
The announcement of benchmark scores is carried out simultaneously with the announcement of exam scores.
However, some opinions are concerned about the way of calculating admission scores, whether the subjects and exams are multiplied by a coefficient or not. This regulation means that the scores of all subjects are at coefficient 1 or the multiplication of score coefficients will be determined by the Departments.
In previous years, many localities, including Hanoi, implemented a method of calculating scores by multiplying the coefficient of 2 for math and literature subjects.
Commenting on the scoring method in the newly issued Circular of the Ministry, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa, a literature teacher in Hanoi, said: "If the scores of all subjects are at coefficient 1 (not multiplied by coefficient 2 for math and literature), this scoring method will ensure fairness for all students. Students who are good at any subject will have an equal advantage in the 10th grade entrance exam."

From 2025, public grade 10 admission will be organized in one of three ways: selection, entrance exam or a combination of selection and selection.
With the entrance exam method, the number of exam subjects is 3 subjects with math, literature and 1 third subject or a combined exam.
Departments of Education and Training can choose one of two options. If choosing a third subject, it must be among the subjects that are evaluated by scores and the same subject must not be chosen for more than three consecutive years.
If choosing a combination exam, the subjects selected must be among the subjects that are assessed by scores.
The time for localities to announce the third subject is after the end of semester I and no later than March 31 every year.
With the admission method, the basis is the training results and learning results of the years of the general education program at the junior high school level or the regular education program at the junior high school level of the admission subject.
Regarding the exam duration of each subject, literature is 120 minutes, math is 90 or 120 minutes, the third subject is 60 or 90 minutes, and the combined exam is 90 or 120 minutes.
The exam content is within the secondary school education program, mainly grade 9 program.
