Can Tho organizes bicycle racing and lion dance to celebrate the Lunar New Year

On January 19, at Hau River Park (Cai Khe Ward, Ninh Kieu District), the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Can Tho City organized the opening ceremony of the Can Tho City Open Cycling and Lion Dance Championship "Celebrating the glorious Party - Celebrating the Spring of At Ty 2025".

Mr. Nguyen Tien Phong (right), Member of the Standing Committee of Can Tho City Party Committee, Secretary of Ninh Kieu District Party Committee and Mr. Nguyen Minh Tuan (left), Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Can Tho City, presented souvenir flags to the delegations participating in the cycling race.

The Can Tho Open Cycling Tournament has the participation of 266 athletes from 21 cycling teams from 8 provinces and cities: Can Tho, An Giang, Binh Duong, Dong Thap, Hau Giang, Kien Giang, Soc Trang , Vinh Long. The competition is divided into 4 age groups: men from 16 to 40 years old, men from 41 to 50 years old, men from 51 years old and over and women from 16 to 55 years old.

The cycling tournament had 266 athletes from 21 teams inside and outside Can Tho city participating.

Meanwhile, the Can Tho City Lion Dance Open had more than 240 athletes from 4 provinces and cities of Can Tho, An Giang, Soc Trang, Vinh Long participating in 4 competitions: lion (female or male - female) climbing the mai hoa thung, lion (universal) jumping on the platform, lion (universal) climbing the pole without picking the lucky branch and 9-section dragon dance (group).

The lion dance competition has 4 competitions with the participation of more than 240 athletes.

Mr. Truong Cong Quoc Viet, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Can Tho City, said that the cycling race and the lion dance competition were organized to encourage and cheer up the athletes' training spirit; enhance exchanges, connections, and experience sharing between competing units. In particular, it created a joyful and exciting atmosphere for people before the Lunar New Year 2025.
