Warning students about being cheated out of money when renting accommodation through intermediaries

According to information, FPT University received complaints from two students about signs of being scammed out of rent money.

These students rented their houses through an intermediary listed in the boarding house book provided by the school. They have not recently transferred the rent to the landlord.

"The unfortunate incident involved the school's responsibility for negligently providing intermediary rental contacts, not the landlord, leading to a situation where there were signs of cheating students out of their rent money," the school accepted responsibility.

The school said that after receiving the student's complaint, it contacted the landlord directly, paid in advance to refund the student so that they could continue to have a place to stay, and filed a police report.

In addition to accepting responsibility, the school also reprimanded and disciplined the staff who were negligent in introducing rental housing to students and called on students using Happy Home's services who showed signs of being scammed and having their rent appropriation stolen to contact the school for timely support.
